Recorded during two extended studio sessions in Mt Tremper in the Catskills across December 2024 and January 2025, Light Sound Falling presents Evan Lindorff-Ellery working in a deeply concentrated solo format, sculpting long-form improvisations from cymbals, electric guitar, digital piano, snare drum, found objects and even a palette knife.

Rather than foregrounding gesture or virtuosity, Lindorff-Ellery focuses on texture, resonance and gradual transformation. Cymbals shimmer into suspended metallic clouds, guitar tones fracture into granular overtones, and percussive surfaces are activated as interventions and punctuation. The inclusion of objects and the palette knife suggests a tactile approach � sound treated as material, shaped and scraped into form.

The two sessions unfold with patient intensity, emphasizing duration and subtle shifts in density. Silence and decay play as crucial a role as impact, creating a listening environment that feels both intimate and spatially expansive.

Mastered by Taku Unami, the recording preserves the raw detail and dynamic nuance of the performances, highlighting micro-variations in texture and tone.
