The first release from TRAC, the duo of Teddy Ryles and Alexander Cooper, Cylinder Plus brings together two electro-acoustic artists whose connection began in 2012 at Oberlin's TIMARA department, where their shared interests in technology, composition and experimental sound first took shape. Formed in 2023, TRAC takes its name from Calvin Mooers' early Text Reckoning And Compiling programming language, a fitting reference for music built from reconstituted digital artifacts and shaped through processes of spectral decomposition, deformation and iteration.

Ryles, also known as the New York-based electro-acoustic artist Second Seasons, brings a practice rooted in layered electronic detail, glitch, IDM, industrial texture and musique concrète-influenced abstraction, while Cooper, an NC-based artist active through projects including AHC, Body Boys and Placeholder, contributes a related concern for immersive sonic structure, harmonic diffusion and non-representational sound. Together, they create a rigorously processed but physically suggestive work, treating digital residue not as error or debris but as compositional material, unfolding dense, unstable forms where texture, spectrum and structure continually erode and recombine.
