Recorded across 2024 and 2025, Premonitions brings the Arizona-based performance and sound-art collective Butoh Sonics to Love Earth Music for a charged meeting of physical gesture, improvised electronics and ritualized noise construction. With Ashiki contributing Butoh and percussion, Steve RampaNt Guardino using power acoustics, synths, electronics and circuit bending, Vic VOID shaping electroacoustics, sound sculpture, synths and electronics, and Parker Weston adding synths, samples and prepared guitar, the album extends the group's long-running practice of fusing movement, object-sound, altered instruments and unstable electronic environments.

The music occupies a threshold between performance document and sonic apparition: dense but tactile, abrasive but spatial, built from scrapes, pressure, circuitry, resonant bodies, broken signals and slowly mutating textures. Rather than following conventional ensemble roles, the four participants work as a collective field, where Butoh's bodily intensity and sense of ritual presence become inseparable from the album's industrial drones, handmade electronics, electroacoustic interference and darkly immersive atmospheres.

Emerging from the same Phoenix underground that has shaped Butoh Sonics' catalog of live rituals, sound sculpture and experimental improvisation, Premonitions feels less like a set of pieces than a series of warnings, visitations and transformations. It is a raw and physical album of noise-based performance art, balancing free improvisation, dark ambient suspension, prepared-guitar abrasion and circuit-bent instability in a sound world that seems to move, writhe and listen back.
