Descriptions, Reviews, &c.

Thee Checkered Shoe Dude's A 'Lil Test Of That is a raw and compelling blend of studio and live experimentation, released in 2024 on Love Earth Music.

The album was recorded at 23 Skidoo Studios (Miami Artworks, Miami, AZ), with vivid bursts of live energy captured on track 6 ("Live at Trunk Space," Phoenix, July 2023) and track 9 ("Norcal Noisefests 2023," Sacramento, CA). The soundscape alternates between meticulously layered studio improvisations and spontaneous performance textures: the studio cuts brim with deftly engineered beats and loops, while the live tracks crackle with immediate interaction and newfound tension.

Throughout the record, Thee Checkered Shoe Dude treads a line between reflective composition and bold sonic exploration-where intricate samples and processing meet live instrumentation. Listeners are rewarded with unpredictable shifts in texture and rhythm: cosmic reverberations morph into glitchy cascades, and structured grooves give way to cathartic outbursts. The raw document of two live recordings adds authenticity and depth, showcasing an artist willing to risk-even at the expense of polish-to communicate presence and intensity.

Artist Biographies

Lob Instagon is the driving force behind Instagon, a long-running noise/jam/improvisational project born in 1993. Based in the Sacramento/Miami AZ scene, Lob's neo‑psychedelic collective consistently performs with new musicians, yielding wildly unpredictable, ritualistic performances united under a "servitor" concept rooted in chaos magic.

An organizer of NorCal Noisefest, distributor, bassist, poet, and visual artist, Lob is deeply embedded in experimental communities-often working under his art name "LOB." His performances blur disciplined funk, rock, and improvisation, yet maintain a core electric intensity.
