Les Disques Victo is an outgrowth of the 20-year-old
International Festival Musique Actuelle Victoriaville. The
label inaugurated its preservation of concerts from the series with
1987's Fred Frith/Rene Lussier duo Nous Autres. With more
than 80 releases (most, but not all, recorded during the annual
festival), Victo has persevered in making important and unusual
projects and collaborations available. Among the recordings are rare
meetings between Evan Parker and Sainkho Namtchylak, Paul Plimey and
John Oswald, Eugene Chadbourne and Henry Kaiser, and Anthony Braxton
and Derek Bailey, as well as a number of releases from members of
Montreal's Ambiances Magnetiques, including Rene Lussier, Jean
Derome and Andre Duchesne.
