Taking a cue from the punk and indie days, these artists thrive, or at least try to survive, outside the mainstream. They're putting out their own cds, often in lovingly handmade covers, and turning the bedrooms into warehouses. Some call them vanity labels. We like to think of them as lone wolves, howling in the night.
