Renaissance man Peter Blegvad is an artist of many disciplines. As a songwriter his complex word play as sung in an everyman voice has made a book of fascinating and compelling songs working with some of the finest artists in the avant-garde/post-progressive/RIO world; as a writer his tongue-in-cheek obscurities are both whimsical and deeply philosophical at the once; as a cartoonist (Leviathan, Pedestrian) Blegvad's daily strip has developed a set of unusual characters drawn in a style that recalls both modern and 19th century fine ink styles; as an artist Blegvad's covers has graced several Recommended Record releases, including covers for Jon Rose, Rene Lussier/Jean Derome and Chris Cutler.

Blegvad originally came to light with the band Slapp Happy, which merged with then Virgin artists Henry Cow to produce some of their arguably finest work. Blegvad has also served as a connector amongst the avant community, being responsible for Faust's relationship with RIO/Recommended Records, and being a catalyst for The Golden Palomino's formation. His current work includes the Peter Blegvad Trio, a power group with Chris Cutler and John Greaves, both of whom Blegvad has worked with for more than 20 years.
