Joanna Mattrey is a violist active in both the new music and free improvisation communities who's playing often incorporates textural gestures, preparations, and electronic alterations. She is searching for moments of ceremony and ritual in a modern soundscape.

Mattrey has played with such luminaries as Marc Ribot and the Young Philadelphians, Mary Halvorson, John Zorn, Erik Friedlander, Nick Dunston and others among New York City's Downtown scene.

Her projects are incorporative of many styles which have brought her to various venues including the Whitney Museum, the Rubin Museum, MoMa's PS1, Carnegie Hall, Roulette, Boston's MFA, The Stone, Joe's Pub, LPR, and has played at SxSW, the Newport Jazz Festival, and the NYC Winter Jazz Fest.

Mattrey has commissioned solo pieces from Nick Dunston (Vijay Iyar), Weasel Walter (Lydia Lunch), Lucie Vitkova and more to bring her improvising sensibilities to the new music world."

"Camila Nebbia is a saxophone player, composer, improviser, multidisciplinary artist curator and educator from Buenos Aires, Argentina based in Berlin, Germany. Her artistic practice reflects the relationship between composition, free improvised music, film and mixed media creations, where memory and identity are some of the main resonances of her work. Her visual work includes super 8 film, archives, destroyed archives, expanded cinema & digital video. Co-creator and curator of the collective interdisciplinary group and improvised music series "La Jaula se ha vuelto pájaro y se ha volado", the concert series "Guillotina Fest" and creator and curator of the streaming concert series called "The warmth of proximity" for womxn, transgender & non binary experimental musicians presented at the Experimental Sound Studio of Chicago. Co-founder of the collective and independent record label based in Portugal "Habitable Records". Played and recorded with many artists of the international scene such as Valentin Garvie, La Big Nant, Axel Filip Sextet, Nacho Szulga Quintet, El devenir del río, Julian Mekler sextet, Burka, Paula Shocron, Barbara Togander, Patrick Shiroishi, Paul Pignon, Christer Bothén, Vinnie Sperrazza, Katt Hernandez, Nicola Hein, Kenneth Jimenez, Lesley Mok, Violeta García, Susana Santos Silva, Tom Rainey, Elsa Bergman, l' Arfi collective of Lyon, Joanna Mattrey, Micheal Formaneck, Flatter Ensemble, John Hughes, Lesley Mok, among others. Has released as a band leader and solo performer "A veces la luz de lo que existe resplandece solamente a la distancia" (Kuai 2017), "De este lado" (Club del disco 2019), Aura (ears&eyes records 2020),"Corre el río de la memoria" (ramble records 2021) and "Presencias" (Sound Holes 2021). Participated in many festivals around the world such as Winter Jazz Fest NYC co-presented with M3 (U.S), Buenos Aires Jazz Festival (ARG), Santa Fe Jazz Festival (AR), Lima Jazz Festival (PE), FRIM concerts at Fylkingen, Stockholm (SE), Diskurs Festival (DE), Ultima Oslo (NO), among others, and has assisted to several residencies such as SIM (NYC) Jazz & Creative Music dictated by Tyshawn Sorey and Vijay Iyer (CA), OMI (NYC), Konvent Zero (ES) UNCOOL (CH), Ensemble Evolution (US), CirkusVranen (SE), CCK with Tim Berne, Marilyn Crispell & Ben Goldberg (AR), among others. Has composed the music of the short film "Cuando Corro" by Ana Luz Furth 2020, the circus performance "Gården" 2021 by Anna Aro and the circus ritual performance "Lei-La" by Karla Arévalo 2022/23.

Studied classical saxophone at the Conservatory "Astor Piazzolla", jazz at the "Manuel de Falla" Conservatory, Film Direction at the Universidad Del Cine, and the masters degree program "CoPeCo Contemporary Performance and Composition. The two-year program occurs each semester in a different institution: Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Estonia, Royal College of Music in Stockholm in Sweden, National Superior Conservatory of Music Dance of Lyon in France and Hamburg University of Music and Theatre in Germany. Was part of the second cohort of Mutual Mentorship for Musicians M3 created by Jen Shyu & Sara Serpa 2021. Fellowship at Experimental Sound Studio 2022 for curating "A door in the mountain" series."

"Camilo Ángeles, flutist, composer, sound artist, producer and music curator, borned in Perú, lived and worked several years in Buenos Aires, Argentina, now based in México City. Co direct his label TVL REC and is the current curator of the Lima Jazz Festival.

Works with interest on the hybridization of aesthetics, the search for an own aesthetic vision through creative sounds processes."

"Violeta García is a cellist, improviser and composer born in 1990 in San Nicolás de los Arroyos, Buenos Aires, Argentina. She has been studying music since 1998.

Studies

She studied at the "Conservatory Astor Piazolla". She also has a Degree in Composition by "Conservatory Manuel de Falla" with Ricardo Capellano and she has a Degree on Musical Arts specializing in violoncello at "Universidad Nacional of Arts (U.N.A)".

She has played with a lot of improvisers around the world: Joelle Leandre, Uri Caine, Brandon Lopez, Chris Pitsiokos, Theo Ciccaldi, Rafael Delgado, Willem Shulz, Tristan Honsinger, Popular Music leaded by Jacques Morelembaum, Hank Roberts, Tony Malaby, Marcos Sanguinetti, Bomba del Tiempo, Gonzalo Aloras, Ana Maria Romano, Lito Vitale, Juan Carlos Baglietto, among others. She also studied classical cello with Stanimir Todorov (Bulgary) and Jorge Perez Tedesco (Argentine).

In 2015 she was selected by FNA to be part of a music residency of improvisation and composition directed by Ernesto Jodos, Oscar Edelstein, Marcelo Moguilevsky and Mariano Tiki Cantero in Bariloche, Argentina.

In 2018 she took part in a collaboration program at Art Basel in Faena Art Center to perform with Naama Tsabar (Israel- NYC) in "Melodies of Certain Damage #opus 2"

In 2019 Violeta has been selected to be part of a Music Summer Camp at Art Omi in New York city to perform and collaborate with other artist in residency from around the world supported by Williams Arts Fundation.

In 2020 she was supported by Ibermusicas to make a composition residency in Spain and had a support from ProHelvetia "Coincidencia" program to coordinate "Public Voices" with Griselda Fresler.

General

She is a performer in many art forms, including free improvisation, contemporary and experimental repertoire and collaborations with dancers and others artists. After years of studying classical and popular music on violoncello and, later contemporary composition and improvisation. Violeta realized that her own musical voice needed to emerge outside specific genres. At the moment she is eager to improvise, compose and create new sounds, experiment with extended techniques, prepared instrument and work with dynamic, rhythmic and original tuneful combinations. Now her primary interest is to open new sound spaces that invite the audience on an inner voyage.

Aside from these projects, she has been on tour in several opportunities with improvisers from Latin America, Europe and USA. She has been part of important experimental ensambles and collectives like: Nicotina es Primavera, El devenir del Rio, Blanco Teta, Monótonos Truenos, Dominga Tango, La Jaula se ha vuelto Pájaro y se ha volado, among others. In 2015 she found a digital label and musics series called TVL-REC (www.tvlrec.com) with Carlos Quebrada (Colombia) and Camilo Ángeles (Perú). It is devoted to publishing new music, experimental groups and collectives from Latin America and other countries."
