"Born 17 August 1918, Ike Abrams Quebec was an American jazz tenor saxophonist. He began his career in the big band era of the 1940s, then fell from prominence for a time, before launching a comeback in the years prior to his death in 1963. An accomplished dancer and pianist in his youth, he switched to tenor sax as his primary instrument in his early twenties and quickly earned a reputation as a promising player. His performance career started in 1940 with the Barons of Rhythm. The Barons disbanded in 1941 when the USA entered the war, and they were never recorded. This new collection contains eight original albums by Ike Quebec, which cover almost his entire output, including the aforementioned 78 rpm releases from the 1940s, his Blue Note singles from the mid to late 1950s, plus the five albums he released on Blue Note between 1959 and 1963. A must-have compilation for jazz fans everywhere, a delight for beginners to the great man's music, and a fine reminder for those already at least somewhat versed."-Enlightenment

Willie Jones (1929�1991) was a subtle and skilled drummer who worked with some of the most progressive jazz musicians of the 1950s, including Thelonious Monk and Sonny Rollins. Known for his sensitive accompaniment and tasteful restraint, Jones contributed to key sessions that balanced experimentalism with swing. Though he didn�t record extensively as a leader, his work as a sideman, especially in early Monk recordings, reflects a deep understanding of form, space, and dynamic support.
