Recorded in Berlin in January 2024, Pushovers documents the first duo release from percussionist Jordan Topiel Paul and Berlin-based sound artist Bryan Eubanks, long-time collaborators exploring the borderlands between acoustic percussion and electronic sound. Paul performs on amplified snare drum, drawing a remarkably wide spectrum of textures — dry rattles, muted scrapes, taut rhythmic fragments, and resonant metallic overtones — while Eubanks shapes a constantly evolving electronic environment using modular synthesis.

Rather than treating electronics as accompaniment, the pair construct a tightly interwoven electroacoustic dialogue in which rhythmic impulses, noise structures, and fleeting tonal gestures circulate freely between the instruments. The music unfolds as a series of layered interactions where synthetic tones blur with the physical vibration of the drumhead, creating a shifting terrain of pulses, grainy friction, and unstable rhythmic forms. At times the duo suggests fragmented grooves or mechanical patterns, only to dissolve them into unstable clouds of texture and abstract sonic motion.

Released by the Berlin experimental label Sacred Realism in a small edition with individually painted covers, the album captures the duo navigating what the label describes as an "ambiguous textural and rhythmic universe where synthetic and acoustic meet," balancing microscopic sonic detail with broader structural movement across four extended improvisations.
