"French ensemble Chaos Echoes is one of the most adventurous and challenging acts on a scene already renowned for its intellectual rigor. The Wire said their full-length debut, Transient, "set a mark that others must strive to surpass." With Sustain, Chaos Echoes have not only surpassed their peers, they have surpassed themselves.
The band-guitarist Kalevi Uibo, his drummer brother Ilmar Uibo, bassist Stefan Thanneur and second guitarist Fabien W. Furter-are joined by saxophone colossus Mats Gustafsson of The Thing and Fire! on two lengthy instrumental tracks. "Spellbound" and "Harvest of Souls" collectively sculpt an ominous and forbidding landscape of sound.
Chaos Echoes' tracks were improvised at Downtown Studios in Strasbourg, France in November 2016, and engineered by Cyrille Gachet at Downtown Studios in Strasbourg, France. The music was sent to Gustafsson, who recorded his parts with Andreas Werliin at RUD Studio in Stockholm, Sweden in May 2017. Gachet mixed Sustain at Dick Doom Studio in Bordeaux, France in July 2017, and James Plotkin mastered it for vinyl at Plotkinworks in Bethlehem, PA in August 2017."-Utech
