If fragile means a thoughtful album of improvisation with a lyrical intention and sophisticated playing, then reedist Michael Moore's quartet with Harmen Fraanje on piano, Clemens van der Feen on bass, and Gerry Hemingway on drums & percussion shows a sublimely muscular fragilility in a lovely and extremely intelligent modern jazz album of embraceable and exemplary work.

Personnel:
Michael Moore-alto sax, clarinet, bass clarinet, melodica
A gracefully energetic album of original compositions from Amsterdam reedist Michael Moore, performed with Michael Moore on alto sax, clarinet, bass clarinet, melodica, Harmen Fraanje on piano, Clemens van der Feen on bass, and Gerry Hemingway on drums & percussion. Though "fragile" may imply a certain level of delicay, the quartet break the bonds of fragility often with quietly muscular playing, quick runs that never become histrionic, and incredible technical skill and conversational ability. Moore's compositions are cleverly spacious, yielding great moments of detailed interplay, and room for sublime soloing.
