Nathan Krahn is a Winnipeg, Manitoba-based cellist and composer active across experimental music, contemporary composition, folk, indie rock, and free improvisation. His work combines the cello's acoustic and lyrical possibilities with an interest in extended form, electronics, collective improvisation, and interdisciplinary performance. He has composed works presented at Winnipeg's Cluster New Music + Integrated Arts Festival and has written string arrangements for artists and ensembles including TWIN, Eagle Lake Owls, Great Wealth, French Press, and From Giants.

Krahn is a member of the experimental collective Savant Flâneur, collaborating closely with violinist Gage Salnikowski on music that moves among free improvisation, noise, drone, electroacoustic composition, and contemporary chamber practice. Their 2026 album Hocketus, written for violin, cello, and live electronics, uses custom Max/MSP patches to impose changing electronic conditions on each performance, allowing composition and improvisation to interact in real time.

His performance work has also placed him within Winnipeg's contemporary-music community, including appearances in GroundSwell and send + receive projects alongside musicians such as Theresa Thordarson, Ben Reimer, Gage Salnikowski, and Jennifer Thiessen. Beyond experimental music, Krahn has contributed cello and arrangements to numerous folk, songwriter, and indie recordings, demonstrating an approach equally comfortable with structured song forms and open-ended exploratory settings.

Gage Salnikowski is a Winnipeg, Manitoba-based violinist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, sound artist, performer, and educator whose work spans experimental composition, improvisation, sound installation, contemporary classical music, jazz, rock, and electronic practice. Largely self-taught and proficient on more than 50 instruments, Salnikowski has developed an unusually broad instrumental vocabulary while maintaining a particular interest in unconventional scoring, acoustic sound sculpture, live coding, and approaches that blur distinctions between formal concert music and vernacular or underground traditions.

As a violinist, Salnikowski has appeared in contemporary and experimental settings including GroundSwell projects and performances at the Banff Centre, where he was a 2026 Banff Musicians in Residence participant performing violin, cello, and bass clarinet. He has also contributed violin to recordings by Winnipeg singer-songwriter Sam Singer and worked across chamber, orchestral, indie-rock, jazz, and avant-garde contexts.

Salnikowski is also known for ambitious solo projects in which he performs and records every instrumental part of orchestral works himself, earning attention as a "one-man orchestra." As one half of the sound-art duo Savant Flâneur, he combines audio programming, acoustic sculpture, installation, and experimental composition; the duo's installations have been presented at Nuit Blanche events and encountered by tens of thousands of visitors. His work consistently moves between technical instrumental practice and a deliberately exploratory, sometimes disruptive approach to form and sound.
