Descriptions, Reviews, &c.

"The latest album from this band collective based in Vicenza, Italy brings together elements of No Wave, free jazz, industrial, and post-punk in a blistering collection of 13 songs.

DOORTRI is a collective trio from Vicenza, Italy featuring Tiziano Pellizzari on reeds and electronics; Geoffrey Copplestone on noise and vocals; and Giampaolo Mattiello on percussives.

Their sound is a loose emulsion that shifts freely between the harshness of hardcore punk, free noise, and radical improvisation to more melodic and relaxed interludes that hint at jazz while also referencing Japanese electronica and Minimalism. Moments of satire and irony often undercut and flow beneath tradition and the unexpected with colder, darker moods brooding underneath."-DOORTRI

Doortri began back in 2019 and consisted of only two members writing and rehearsing as DO. Initially formed by self-taught not reconcilied drummer (in a self-declared state of total war) Giampaolo Mattiello and his friend, the one who eventually replied to an advertisement posted searching for like-minded musicians, multi-instrumentalist Tiziano Pellizzari (constantly looking for a sense of self between sound and noise) - DO quickly but painstakingly constructed the basis of their repertoire and sound. A third member was accidentally recruited in 2020, Geoffrey Copplestone (continually unable to believe his good fortune) who, although essentially a non-musician, started to add layers of sound and noise to the existing compositions as well as assisting with the writing of newer material with the other two members.

Jazz is the beating heart and melodic core of Doortri's sound with a rich range of percussive textures tempered with some uncomfortable punk and electronic edges. Drones, noise and radio static permeate many of the pieces and improvisation is a key element, both as part of the song-writing process and as a launching point for exploration both in the studio and during live concerts.

The group released their first demo ep Ð Deviazione - in the Summer of 2022.

Influences: The Pop Group, This Heat, Naked City, Eric Dolphy"
