Japanese K Trio unites Kei's poetry with Takao Miyazaki's electric guitar and objects and Yoichi Ichikawa's piano, objects and subjective stereophonic recording, preserving performances from three differently scaled rooms as language, improvisation and environmental resonance interrupt and reshape one another, shifting between intimate spoken detail, unstable acoustic perspective and exploratory sound.

"577 Records is proud to welcome the adventurous Japanese ensemble K Trio to the label's roster with their remarkable new album, Parientes De La Vida.
K Trio reminds us what experimental music can be at its most vital: pure risk, pure discovery, pure adventure. On Parientes De La Vida, poetry and improvised sound meet in a work that continuously reshapes the listener's sense of space, language, and perception.
The album serves as an acoustic document in which poetry reading and spontaneous musical performance intersect across three enclosed spaces of different scales. These environments are far more than passive settings; their unique dimensions and resonances actively transform the relationship between voice and sound. Each room becomes an additional performer, altering the contours of every interaction.
As language oscillates between meaning and pure sonic presence, the improvisations do not merely accompany the spoken word. Instead, they respond, interrupt, challenge, and occasionally overtake it, creating a dynamic and unpredictable dialogue. The recordings from the three spaces are presented without smoothing over their differences, preserving the discontinuities between environments and continually shifting the listener's point of reference.
The result is a work that inhabits the fertile territory between poetry, improvisation, field acoustics, and experimental composition-a recording that embraces uncertainty as a creative force.
K Trio consists of poet Kei, guitarist Takao, and multi-instrumentalist Yoichi, whose approach combines poetry readings with free improvisation using guitar, piano, electronics, and various objects.
Reflecting on the project, Yoichi explains:
"This is K Trio, an ensemble with the poet Kei and the guitarist Takao. Kei writes and reads poetry, while Takao and I improvise using guitar, piano, electronic instruments, and various objects.
Along with the one-time nature of improvisation, we are interested in the relationship between sound, space, and recording. For this project we experimented with performing and recording in different environments.
The album was created by performing in three enclosed spaces of different sizes."
With Parientes De La Vida, K Trio offers a listening experience that is at once intimate and disorienting, where poetry dissolves into sound and sound acquires the weight of language. It is a work that invites listeners to enter an unstable sonic landscape and discover new relationships between voice, space, and improvisation.""-577 Records
Artist Biographies
• Show Bio for Kei Shii Kei Shii (椎啓), also known as Hiroshi Shii, studied art with Genpei Akasegawa and music with Takehisa Kosugi in the 1970's. Since December 2001 he has been an engineer at the Aomori Contemporary Art Center. He is a member of Marginal Consort. ^ Hide Bio for Kei Shii • Show Bio for Takao Miyazaki Takao Miyazaki is a Japanese experimental guitarist and improviser based in the Kyushu music scene. He is a member of K Trio with poet Kei and pianist and electronic musician Yoichi Ichikawa, developing spontaneous settings in which electric guitar, objects and environmental resonance interact with spoken poetry. The trio originated through Kumamoto's underground-music community, after Kei encountered Miyazaki and Ichikawa performing separately at the Navaro venue. Miyazaki's playing can move from fragmented gestures and restrained textures to dense, chaotic eruptions, responding to the poetry as an independent improvising voice rather than providing conventional accompaniment. He has also performed with Kei in other improvised settings, including a collaboration with pianist Dairo Suga. ^ Hide Bio for Takao Miyazaki • Show Bio for Yoichi Ichikawa Yoichi Ichikawa is a Japanese pianist, electronic musician, improviser, recording engineer and producer active in the experimental music community of Kyushu. Performing solo and under the name peeq, he works with piano, keyboards, electronics, objects and recording techniques that examine the relationship between sound and physical space. In K Trio, with poet Kei and guitarist Takao Miyazaki, Ichikawa alternates between lyrical piano passages, electronic interventions and acoustic events shaped by the performance environment. He has recorded and mixed much of the trio's work, including Parientes De La Vida, for which he employed what is credited as "subjective stereophonic recording" to preserve the distinct scale, resonance and perspective of three different rooms. His wider collaborative network includes improvisers and experimental musicians throughout Kyushu. ^ Hide Bio for Yoichi Ichikawa
