Artist Biographies

Tim Burkland is a Seattle-based harsh noise and experimental electronic artist known for his project Takeshita, a solo endeavor active since around 2019 that channels the raw energy and intensity of noise music into abrasive, unfiltered sound collages. Burkland founded the Imploding Sounds label to release his own work and support a prolific roster of underground noise, with Takeshita's output comprising well over 50 releases across tapes, comp records, and cassette editions. The project draws inspiration from both Japanese noise legends and American harsh noise traditions, blending bent circuitry, cut-up processing, and visceral feedback to produce relentless, high-impact sonic assaults described by some listeners as "professional noise wrestling." Burkland's work with Takeshita and other aliases spans studio recordings and live performances, often embracing extreme textures, distorted electronics, and improvisational noise structures rooted in the DIY noise scene.
