Night In Europe
Released in: Lithuania
Swedish saxophonist Martin Kuchen (Angles, Trespass Trio, All Included) with UK drummer/percussionist Steve Noble and double bassist John Berthling in a searing album of free improvisation performed live at Glenn Miller Cafe in Stockholm in 2014. The trio is on fire as they go into each track, taking a step back for solos from Noble and Berthling, adding dynamic and dimension to their informed interactive playing. Dynamic and demanding, this is a great example of the state of contemporary improvisation from three well-versed and in-demand players. Recommended.

In the early eighties, Noble played with the Nigerian master drummer Elkan Ogunde, Rip Rig and Panic, Brion Gysin and the Bow Gamelan Ensemble, before going on to work with the pianist Alex Maguire and with Derek Bailey (including Company Weeks 1987, 89 and 90).
