"A new collaboration between Ross Scott-Buccleuch (Diurnal Burdens) and Andy Jarvis, Precedes has its origins in the series of blank tape compilations released by Ross on his tape label Steep Gloss. After being invited to contribute to volume 3 of the Blank Tape Compilations in mid-2021, Andy became engrossed in the process of working with blank tapes. When you strip everything away, what's left? Having somewhat unfinished business in the blank tape realm himself (now that the compilation series has ended), Ross was keen to see what else Andy would produce and hence this collaboration began. Fast forward to the present time, here we are at Precedes. Prior to content.

Precedes is compiled solely from working with blank tape in numerous ways, be it dictaphone, cassette, reel to reel and magnetic sheets, etc., all commingled, spliced, folded, hacked, jolted and smeared into a rather sprawling and dynamic 40 minute album."-Krim Kram
