Live from Padua, Magliocchi (drums/percussion), Northover (soprano sax) and Saccente (prepared accordion) forge an improvisational terrain of lean material and sharp focus, their sparse instrumentation allowing micro-gestures, discreet textures and sudden tonal shifts to articulate an open-ended search for sound, essence and interaction in the spirit of discovery.

Recorded at HiFi Record, in Padua, Italy, on May 4th, 2025, by Damiano Pergolis and Peppe Zito.
"There's never an end. There are always new sounds to imagine, new feelings to experience. And there's a need to increasingly purify these feelings, these sounds, to arrive at imagining in their purest state what we've discovered. So that we can see more clearly what we are. Only in this way can we give those who listen to us the essence, the best of who we are."-John Coltrane
Recorded live at HiFi Record in Padua on 4 May 2025, Over The Edge brings together Marcello Magliocchi (drums, percussion), Adrian Northover (soprano saxophone) and Domenico Saccente (prepared accordion) in a singular trio improvisation session. The trio leverages Magliocchi's deep experience in spontaneous composition, Northover's agile, incisive soprano voice and Saccente's subtly modified accordion textures to explore new sound-material and ensemble relations.
The instrumental combination yields a lean yet rich palette: Magliocchi's gestures move from soft pulse to incisive attack, Northover threads sinewy soprano lines and multiphonics, Saccente generates micro-sonic shifts and prepared chord clusters. With the Coltrane quote as its compass-"There's never an end. There are always new sounds to imagine..."-the album emphasises process over product: listening as discovery, space as partner, and improvisation as meditation and revelation. The live field captures the immediacy of these encounters, offering a distilled document of three voices seeking clarity, resonance and the essential core of their interplay.
