Artist Biographies

"The music of Nicola Guazzaloca integrates a variety of influences and approaches combined with sensitivity through personal choices and goals, working outside of gender, preferring uncompromising communication. Parallel to the deepening of his instrumental language, he elaborates a peculiar approach to composition, music organization and improvisation (under the guidance of Muhall R. Abrahms, Roscoe Mitchell, Anthony Braxton, William Parker, Barre Phillips). In 2007 it was recognized by the specialized press (Jazz Music) among the most talented composers emerging in connection with the work with the quintet Comanda Barabba, avant-jazz training founded in the late 1990s. He has been part of the "Fete Foreign" ensemble, conducted by bassist Barre Phillips and various guitar-led cellist Tristan Honsinger, conducting his solo piano projects (Arcaic Techniques) and ensemble. He composed and played for cinema, theater, dance and multimedia with various awards (Prima Aziz '03, Favolando '04, Interculture Map '05). Since 2007, she has been a teacher of the Ivan Illich Music School in Bologna, where she has coordinated activities and conducts workshops and seminars. He has more than twenty publications (Leo Records, Rai Radio3, Amirani Records, Pig Set, Klopotec, Aut Records ...).

Italian drummer, percussionist, composer, and improviser born in 1985 in Castel San Pietro Terme (Bologna) Studied drums, percussion, and theory at Centro Gramsci (1998-2004), CPM Milan and private studies with Mauro Gherardi and Max Furian. Active in jazz and avant-garde scenes, he has performed internationally-including South Africa-and worked with artists like David Murray, Ken Vandermark, Marc Ducret, Achille Succi, and Stefano Senni. Winner of the "We Insist Prize" (2015 MIDJ), he trained extensively in jazz and improvisation, studying at Ozzano Dell'Emilia and participating in workshops led by figures like Marc Ducret and Tristan Honsinger. He leads ensembles like Ground 71 and is active internationally.

"Francesco Guerri, cellist and composer, was born in Cesena in 1977. He graduated from the Conservatory of Music "B. Maderna in Cesena with the highest marks in 2000. Immediately after the exam he escapes from the building with Shostakovich's beloved first cello concerto under his arm and never returns. Since then he has approached improvised, electro-acoustic and rock music.

He played with: Tristan Honsinger, Carla Bozulich, Jessica Moss, Ches Smith, Cris Corsano, Edoardo Marraffa, Pasquale Mirra, Domenico Caliri, Fabrizio Spera, Fabrizio Puglisi, Alberto Fiori, Vincenzo Vasi, Laurence "Butch" Morris, William Parker, Nicola Guazzaloca, Silvia Bolognesi, Cristiano Calcagnile, Gianluca Petrella and many others.

He also collaborates with Teatrino Clandestino, Teatrino Giullare, Francesca Grilli, Chiara Guidi - Societas Raffaello Sanzio.

He has dedicated himself for years to an original solo repertoire that sees him perform, in festivals such as: Roma Europa festival, Sudtirol Jazz festival, Forlì open music, Isole che Parlano. In 2015 he was invited to play at the Paolina Chapel of the Quirinale Palace in Rome and in 2019 he presented his new solo album, "Su Mimmi non si spara!", at the Rai headquarters in Via Asiago in Rome for Radio3 Suite Jazz.

Since 2001 he has worked for the Day Hospital of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the Developmental Age in Bologna, dealing with discomfort in teen age."

"Federico Pierantoni, born in 1989, began studying music at the age of 8 and switched to trombone at 14.

He graduated from the G.B. Martini Conservatory in Bologna under the guidance of Maestro Massimo Morganti.

He has participated in various festivals, including Villa Celimontana with the group directed by Giampaolo Ascolese, Narni Jazz Fest with Marco Tamburini's Big Band featuring Dee Dee Brighwater, Al Jazz in It in Vignola, Bari in Jazz and Internet Festival in Pisa, and Catania Jazz Festival with the Auanders group (part of the Auand record label).

He has played with Tommaso Cappellato's orchestra and with the CREI group directed by Nicola Fazzini, where they performed at the Cà Foscari Jazz Fest in Venice.

He also performs in other fields, including singer-songwriters Bobo Rondelli, where they performed "A Monforti in Jazz" with guest Stefano Bollani.
