Artist Biographies

"Artur Małecki, student in the percussion class of dr hab. Łukasz Żyta and Dr. Wojciech Fedkowicz became the laureate of the Jazz Phonographic Debut 2022 competition, organized by the National Institute of Music and Dance. The author's project "Artur Małecki & The Creature" with the publishing house "Listen Foundation", which includes his compositions, was awarded.

Artur Małecki - a graduate of the Stanisław Moniuszko State Music School Complex in Łódź in the class of Radosław Bolewski and the Jazz Department of the Stanisław Moniuszko State Music School Complex in Łódź. Fryderyk Chopin in Warsaw in the class of Dr. Krzysztof Gradziuk, currently a student of the Academy of Music. K. Penderecki in Krakow in the percussion class of dr hab. Łukasz Żyta and Dr. Wojciech Fedkowicz.

He is the leader of a project co-created with recognized musicians of the young Polish jazz scene - Michał Aftyka and Przemysław Chmiel ("Artur Małecki & The Ceature"). .in. Blue Note Competition Poznań, Jazz on the Odra, Tarnów International Jazz Contest, Krokus Jazz Festival."

Michał Aftyka is double bass player from Warsaw, Poland. He is known for the groups Travel Adapter, Jah Trio, his work with Eric Terino, and Artur Malecki & The Creature Trio.

"Przemysław Chmiel - saxophonist playing the soprano and tenor saxophone. A graduate of ZPSM im. Fryderyk Chopin in Warsaw (", Bednarska") in the saxophone class of Łukasz Poprawski. Currently a student of the Academy of Music. Karol Szymanowski in Katowice in the class of Marcin Kaletka.

Winner of the 2nd place at the IX International Jazz Improvisation Competition in Katowice in 2019. Winner of the First Prize in the Solo category at the Tarnów Jazz Contest 2018. That year, together with the original Przemysław Chmiel Quartet, he won the 2nd place at the 2018 Blue Note Poznań Competition. With Natalia Kordiak's band, he won 2nd place at the Tarnów Jazz Contest 2017.

In 2019, two albums with Przemysław Chmiel were released. The first is "Bajka" by Natalia Kordiak Quintet. The premiere of the album - released by the Slovak HevHetia label - took place in Prague, Czech Republic, as part of the Voicingers on Tour festival. "Bajka" received great reviews, was included in many lists of the best albums of 2019 and was nominated for the Fryderyk award in the "Phonographic debut of the year - jazz" category. The second album is, "Word on T." by Sabina Meck Sextet (SJ Records). The album also received great reviews and was recognized as one of the best vocal albums of 2019."
