Recorded at the 2019 Salon fur Klang+Kunst, in Krailing/Munich, this consummate and creative meeting of multi-reed & brass improviser Udo Schindler and double bassist Thomas Stempkowski was performed as a dedication to bassist Simon H. Artist Biographies:

"Udo Schindler is a German improvisation musicians (bass clarinet, contrabass clarinet, saxophone, flute, cornet, also accordion, guitar, percussion, analog synthesizer) and architect. Schindler was active in the 1970s in Franconia first as rock and rock jazz musician before he had flute lessons at the conservatory Nuremberg. Subsequently, he studied architecture at the Technical University of Munich and worked as an architect. In the 1990s he turned to contemporary music (Arch.Ensemble) and improvised music (Schindler.Interferenz.3). In addition to the single tube instruments (saxophones and clarinets), he studied the cornet. In addition to his sound research, he also worked as a director, performer, musician and composer for various theater productions. In the following years he performed with solo and duo projects at new music festivals (Musica Viva, Klangaktionen, etc ...), jazz, experimental music, among others. This led to collaborations with musicians like Hubert Bergmann, Gerry Hemingway, Eddie Prevost, Sebi Tramontana, Georg Wissel, John Russell, Blaise Siwula, Frank Gratkowski, Hans Koch, Urs Leimgruber, Elisabeth Harnik, Katharina Weber and Frank Paul Schubert. In addition to his activities in solid cast he initiated in Munich a series of concerts to free improvisation in ad hoc to test instrumentation."

"Thomas Stempkowski lives and works as a double bass player and composer in Vienna and is the organizer of the monthly concert series "QUANTEN - Chamber for Music".

Only after learning and practicing two professions (structural engineer and cabinet maker) for several years did Thomas Stempkowski turn to the double bass. descriptions, reviews, &c.

"Thomas Stempkowski and I agreed to dedicate these recordings with double bass to the memory of our colleague Simon H. Fell.

It could hardly be more tragic and macabre, because Thomas died unexpectedly (for me) on June 12th, 2021 during the production of this CD.

I never would have thought that the recordings would be a farewell and memorial album. We had plans. The first meeting stimulated us, the interpersonal and the inner sound was right. A strong voice is silent, not only will I miss it!

The music is dedicated to the British bassist, composer & label head SIMON H. FELL who died on June 28th, 2020, a valued colleague whom I wanted to invite for my concert series 'low tone studies' in 2021 in Munich."-Udo Schindler
