Recorded in December, 2024, by Nandor Nevai.
Acid Mothers Temple founder and guitarist Kawabata Makoto joins New York avant-garde bassist Tim Dahl and underground percussionist, composer, and provocateur Nandor Nevai for a ferocious excursion into psychedelic noise rock, space metal, and free improvisation. Recorded at Nevai's home studio in December 2024, the trio combines Kawabata's expansive guitar treatments and psychedelic explorations with Dahl's aggressive, unconventional bass work and Nevai's anarchic approach to percussion, vocalizations, and assorted sonic disruptions.
Kawabata, whose decades of work with Acid Mothers Temple have helped define an uncompromising strain of Japanese psychedelic rock, employs electric and prepared guitars, electronic treatments, percussion, and microtonal piano. Dahl contributes electric bass, electric washtub bass, and guzheng, extending the trio's possibilities beyond conventional rock instrumentation, while Nevai introduces percussion, throat sounds, bass harmonica, and an unpredictable assortment of additional instruments and techniques. Together, they pursue a volatile collision of heavily amplified textures, improvisational freedom, and abrasive sonic experimentation.
The project originated as two digital albums, D i c K i N 1 - "A Deaf Hippie" and D i c K i N 2 - "Dragon Ass," subsequently edited and assembled into a single CD release. Bringing together three distinctive personalities from the outer reaches of experimental music, the collaboration connects the cosmic psychedelia of Acid Mothers Temple with the confrontational energy of New York's avant-garde underground and Nevai's singular blend of musical extremity, absurdist humor, and unfettered invention.
