Montreal pianist, keyboardist, and composer Virginie Reid creates a patient, immersive electroacoustic music from piano, synthesizers, sampling, voice, and carefully layered environmental textures. Developed over an extended period between touring and motherhood, Mille soleils a l'oeil nu was conceived as an intimate refuge: a nocturnal work that searches for light within grief, vulnerability, memory, and change. Its five extended compositions move between fragile piano figures, slowly accumulating electronic drones, submerged vocal layers, and broad atmospheric spaces, allowing silence and resonance to carry as much expressive weight as melody.

Reid is joined selectively by pianist and co-producer Sylvain Deschamps, double bassist Jeremi Roy, and Swedish-born Montreal vocalist Erika Angell. Roy's resonant bass deepens the mournful currents of Vagues, while Angell and the ensemble La clique vocale bring luminous, sometimes spectral voices to Meditation and Lune rose. Across the album, acoustic and electronic sources blur into a dreamlike continuum, balancing lyrical intimacy with cavernous drones and richly layered collage in music that unfolds as a gradual passage from darkness toward radiance.
