"Originally released in late 1991, Mehead's sole album, was recorded at RMS Studios in Crystal Palace, London, and issued just a few months before the quartet's demise. This second edition of One Good Eye, has been remastered by engineer Neil Goody at The Premises Studios, from the original analogue tapes. The CD mastering was completed by Oli Morgan at Abbey Road Studios, for rerelease by Taut Recordings. From a base in south London, Mehead realigned the rock template, to frame their distinctive musical shapes, off-kilter rhythms, and spacious plains. Rigorously honed and extensive in scope, these intuitive compositions evoke a soundtrack to a singular landscape. Mehead worked with lines, counterpoint, and rough edges, to explore; rhythmic variations (With Scissors), frenetic horns (Thin Skinned), reversed tape (Float), intricately woven instrumentals (Hippo), and density of sound (Interiors). One Good Eye evolved during a handful of recording sessions at RMS, between 1990 and 1991. It leans towards experimentation, tape collage, and the quietly subversive. The work grapples with compositional fragments, and then presents its own logic, through a mix of instrumental and vocal performances that unfold over twelve tracks. Most of the material was performed live, in the studio, embracing the spirit and spontaneity of first takes, warts and all. Overdubbed instruments were added to thicken musical lines, when appropriate, or to provide discreet melodic textures. Founded by David Maleed and Phil Brooker, Mehead began as a recording project in the autumn of 1983, and remained active for eight years, until the close of 1991."-Taut Recordings"
