"Using field recordings collected around the world, Kim Cascone has constructed a CD which is neither an exploration of inner space nor a meditation on hearing. It makes no statement nor serves any purpose. It is not a travelogue.Hopefully, this CD has succeeded in achieving all of those goals.

Formally trained in electronic music at the Berklee College of Music and the New School in New York City. Founded Silent Records in 1986. Worked on David Lynch's 'Twin Peaks' and 'Wild at Heart' as Assistant Music Editor. Sound designer and composer for Thomas Dolby's company Headspace. Since 1980, Kim has released over 30 albums of electronic music on Silent, Sub Rosa, Mille Plateaux, Anechoic and 12k. Cascone has performed with artists such as Merzbow, Keith Rowe, Scanner, John Tilbury, Tony Conrad, Pauline Oliveros to name a few. Cascone was one of the founders of the .microsound list which focuses on issues concerning post-digital music and laptop performance and has written for Computer Music Journal (MIT Press), Artbyte Magazine, Parachute Journal and Junk Jet."-Aural Terrains

"M4D&G was prompted by the book "luck and Chance (Dagger and Guitar)" by Asger Jonr; and further shaped by the films "Satantango" by Bela Tar and "The Seventh Continent" by Michael Haneke."
