"Variations of the initial score were incorporated within the choreographic performance "guest project" presented at the Archeological Museum of Thessaloniki, October 2019.
"Collective composer Eventless Plot is made up of Vasilis Liolios, Aris Giatas and Yiannis Tsirikoglou, using objects and instruments combined with live electronics. They jointly produce performance scores for themselves and chamber ensembles, as in this new Edition Wandelweiser release of a 2019 composition titled Anisixia. The additional musicians here - Nefeli Sani, piano; Chris Cundy, bass clarinet; Eva Matsigou, flute - take the foreground, to the extent that a casual hearing suggests the piece is entirely acoustic. The core trio's contributions on digital processing, analog synthesiser and psaltery played with e-bow act to subtly transform the acoustic instruments, extending decays and sustaining overtones. This group shows admirable commitment to effacing both their individual identities in composition and their presence in performance.
It's an Edition Wandelweiser release so no detailed notes on the composition. "Variations of the initial score were incorporated within the choreographic performance "guest project" presented at the Archeological Museum of Thessaloniki, October 2019." More than other works I've heard by them, Anisixia displays signs of subjectivity in the way it unfolds. With no obvious overriding force guiding the piece, it takes the form of a stately but gentle processional, with the piano taking the lead as the others provide a harmonic shadowing. At just under 37 minutes, it establishes the same quiet presence as some of Feldman's longer works, making its own time. I'm not sure if the recording was made as part of the museum performances or not: my only complaint about this piece is that I wish it was captured with greater depth and clarity."-Ben.H, Boring Like a Drill

Artist Biographies
• Show Bio for Vasilis Liolios Vasilis Liolios, Βασίλης Λιόλιος, is an improvising pianist and sound artist, known for the groups Eventless Plot, V.I.A., and Rete. ^ Hide Bio for Vasilis Liolios • Show Bio for Chris Cundy "Playing bass clarinet, various saxophones, and other unusual woodwind instruments Chris splits his time between the UK where he lives and Canada. He has toured internationally with Cold Specks, Timber Timbre, Guillemots, and Fyfe Dangerfield and regularly accompanies songwriters such as Little Annie, Baby Dee, Devon Sproule, and Edd Donovan. His practice extends from popular music to theatre, experimental and improvised performances and he has appeared on over sixty commercial recordings. Recently Chris has started to release a series of albums under his own name. Chris grew up in Medway, Kent and was drawn into the local music scene at a young age where he become friends with Billy Childish - artist, musician, and founder of Hangman Records & Books. During visits to Childish's kitchen Chris was exposed to the exploits of homemade music-making. This formative period instilled a DIY approach and by the time Chris was 14 he had already started out as a street busker. After hearing the Eric Dolphy Memorial Album he took up bass clarinet. He is self-taught. He went on to study painting at Cheltenham art college. During this period he began to establish experimental projects including Grace & Delete - a duo with fellow painter and electronics musician James Dunn. He also started to explore self-developed playing techniques such as multi-phonics, circular breathing, micro tonality and generally speaking a more tactile approach to the instrument. This led him to working with composers including Thanos Chrysakis, and Pete M Wyer. At Cheltenham he also met songwriter Fyfe Dangerfield who he has continued to collaborate with on a number of occasions since - most notoriously as an additional saxophonist for the Mercury Prize nominated indie-pop group Guillemots. Other projects include several albums with electronica group Longstone and performing music for Nofit State Circus. One off sessions have seen Chris performing with Moby, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Vieux Farka Touré, Fatoumata Diawara, Alexander Hawkins, and Lisa Hannigan. He has also written theatre music and recently worked with composer Jon Nicholls on an original soundtrack for Florian Zellar's The Mother starring Gina McKee." ^ Hide Bio for Chris Cundy • Show Bio for Aris Giatas "Aris Giatas, Άρης Γκιάτας is a Greek improvising pianist known for the group Eventless Plot, and V.I.A." ^ Hide Bio for Aris Giatas • Show Bio for Eva Matsigou Eva Matsigou (Εύα Ματσίγκου) is a Greek flutist, musician, musicologist, and sound researcher active in the experimental and electroacoustic music scenes. Based in Greece, she is known for her work with the Thessaloniki trio Eventless Plot, appearing as a guest musician on several releases including Parallel Worlds and Anisixia, where her flute contributions expand the group's textural and spatial approach to sound. Alongside Nefeli Sani, Matsigou co-founded the duo I Broke the Vase in 2018, a project centered on listening-based performance, free improvisation, and composition using instruments, voice, objects, electronics, and field recordings, often informed by feminist artistic perspectives. Her practice spans experimental, minimalist, contemporary, and electroacoustic improvisation, extending into video performance, sound research, and curatorial work focused on amplifying women's voices in electronic and experimental music.
