Descriptions, Reviews, &c.

"[... Even shorter, and actually involving Mira (i.e. like Setubal, with which it shares some wave-like predilections...) is then Lluvia, including Emilie Skrijelj (accordion) and Tom Malmendier (percussion) to form a quartet around Rodrigues: I hadn't mentioned Skrijelj previously, but she also has a new duo album, Krci, on Creative Sources. Meanwhile, Malmendier had appeared with the quintet Escargot on the enigmatic Dart Love (discussed here in April 2018, and recalled in March around Dawa...). Lluvia suggests the ocean and static (which might be percussion) to start, but also comes to involve something of a process orientation around accordion ostinato, where intensity does tend to increase with repetition....]"-Todd McComb's Jazz Thoughts

Artist Biographies

"Emilie krijelj: Accordionist aspired by electroacoustic materials, trains with Loris Binot, Maurizio Spiridigliozzi, Jean-Luc Cappozzo, Johannes Bauer and explores improvisation through impromptu meetings with musicians, dancers, actors, poets ... At the same pace, she ends his studies in plastic arts and scenography at the university in Metz in 2007 by writing a thesis: From sound object to sound space: interactions between sound and space among sound composers and artists (1948 -1984) .

She also immerses her ears in modular synths and starts taking sounds in the former Yugoslavia or on the edge of vinyl, all to throw herself into the arms of electroacoustics.

"He has been playing the violin for 30 years and in that time has played all genres of music ranging from contemporary music to free jazz and improvised music, live and in the studio.

His main interest shifted towards contemporary improvised and composed music.

The relationship with his instruments is focused in sonic and textural elements.

Electronic music was an early influence on his approach to violin playing, which challenges traditional romantic concepts of the violin/viola through use of preparations and micro tuning.

Active in different settings on the Portuguese scene for free improvised music, both as a collaborator and in leading his own groups.

Music for Dance, Cinema, Video and Performance.

Has created the record label Creative Sources Recordings in 1999, which mainly concentrates on releasing experimental and electro-acoustic music."

"Born in 1958, studying guitar at the Academy of Music Amateurs, in the 70s, with Prof. Nagy. In the late 70 studying bass at the Hot Club, in the early '80s, with Prof. Zé Eduardo.

"Intrigue and permanent and persistent unease with stringed instruments, jazz and improvisation itself. Today, honor me play (and perpetuate my restlessness) with Rodrigo Amado, Abdul moimeme, John Lucas, Joseph Bruno Parrinha, John Parrinha, João Pedro Viegas, Alipio Carvalho Neto, Gabriel Ferrandini, Ernesto Rodrigues, Armando Gonçalves Pereira, Hernani Faustino, Rodrigo Pinheiro, Zé Lencastre, Louis Desirat, Peter Castello Lopes, Luís Lopes, Luís Vicente, Philip Sousa, Pedro Roxo, Johannes Krieger, George Lamprey, Marcello Maggi, Paulo Curado, Diogo Leal, D' Incise, Virginia and Eduardo Chagas. "Born in 1984, obviously self-taught, from the very beginning interested more in sound than in technique, his way to explore and to learn was to play with more and more musicians, everyone who accept actually!

So really soon improvisation took an important part in his work.

He met Michel Massot in Liège, and did a lot of workshop in Mulhouse (Festival Meteo) with people like Okkyung Lee, Chris Corsano, Mats Gustaffson, .. and all this, and also all the meetings are still feeding his sound experiences.

Tom is now very active in L'Oeil Kollectif in Liège, Ninglinspo, Nystagmus, Bobby de Nazareth, duo with Cecile Thévenot, duo with Phil Maggi and a lot of other bands..."
