"A few days later Serries was in the studio with Portuguese cellist Rodrigues for the recording of The Sage Flower. A beautiful and at times very intense set. Take, for example, the impetuous 'Punctuation Marks', in which we hear Serries and Rodrigues firing powerful bursts of sound, giving us the impression of hearing more than an archtop guitar and a cello, which is by no means the case. At other times we rub against the silence, sound like in 'Bloom' just some loose attacks that are given all the time to dissolve in space. In general, rhythm and melody play a relatively small role in this kind of music, in 'Dandellion' and 'Stochastic Regions' I have not heard these, but the beginning of 'The Woody Stems' is one of the exceptions, both rhythm and sounds like melody here, although it is short-lived, in the further course the two again seek abstraction and structure is hard to find. Also in the rather short 'A Palm' a structure clicks that we can carefully define as melody. In 'Landing II' the sounds rise in a fascinating way from the silence, we clearly hear Serries, busy with his e-bow, while Rodrigues plays a beautiful pattern on his cello in the background."-Ben Taffijn, Nieuwe Noten, Translated by Google
