"Trio Discrepancies is the second release from the trio of Josh Berman, Paul Lytton and Jason Roebke, following hot on the heels of their May 2019 Astral Editions digital only release Trio Correspondences. Both albums feature material taken from the trio's April 2018 European tour but (purposefully) each album has it's own unique feel. Where Trio Correspondences focused on shorter and contained 'songs' of improvisation with a short overall run time (30 minutes), Trio Discrepancies flushes out all those focused ideas into full view. Think of Trio Discrepancies as the widescreen directors cut album from Berman/Lyttonoebke. Each side of the LP gives us one full 20ish minute statement -- otherwordly sounds, smears, and rustles butt up against delicate passages of hushed tones, silence, and bows -- from the three masters of modern improv."-Astral Spirits
