Descriptions, Reviews, &c.

"In the late 80s these globetrotting Milanese composers joined forces to produce two acclaimed and prescient records made in equal parts from their own performances and ethnic field recordings, a little in the manner of Eno/Byrne's My Life in the Bush of Ghosts -but rather more evolved. Messages and Portraits combines the vinyl albums on one CD.

Giovanni Venosta Born Udine, Italy, 1961. Apart from his work with Roberto Music, he has mainly worked as a film composer: 16 feature films, various shorts, documentaries, videos, and music for dance and theatre - awarded the Golden Ciak in 2000, 3 nominations for best soundtrack at Donatello's David in 2002, '04, '08, and a nomination for the Cinema Brazil Grand Prize in '09. Since 2002 he has composed the signature tunes for the Locarno Film Festival. He is also a member of the trio diSturb und Drang, Emilio Galante's ensemble Sonata Islands, and several projects dedicated to the music of Magma, After Dinner and Wha Ha Ha. He also plays electric piano with the afro-beat group Mamud Band and teaches a 3-year degree course of Music for Images at the Civic School in Milan. He has made numerous solo recordings, film soundtrack ans band recordings on a variety of labels.

Roberto Musci Born Milan, Italy, 1956. He studied alto sax and guitar and then between 1974 and 1985 travelled around the planet studying African, Indian, Near and Far Eastern music, making field recordings, studying and collecting ethnic musical instruments from around the world. In the '80s and '90s he made ethnic and electronic/experimental programs for Italian national radio and the independent Radio Popolare. He also composed and played music for dance, videos, commercials, poetry, theatre and performed live soundtracks for silent movies. He has released many LPs on numerous European labels."-ReR Megacorp

"Alessandro Cerino, better known as Sandro Cerino (Naples, 30 September 1958), is a musician, composer and arranger Italian.

Thanks to his father a musician, he learned his passion for music as a child. After having achieved classical maturity, he devoted himself to the study of the clarinet.

In 1983, he began his work as an arranger for theater performances (I refer to the trick by Gino Rivieccio) and for television programs (Bum Bum all'italiana with Lory Del Santo). In 1985, he contributed to the soundtrack of the film The Crew, by Pino Dosaggio. Subsequently, he takes part in other television broadcasts on the RAI and Fininvest networks (Good luck, See you at 10, DOC: Music and more in the denomination of controlled origin, Naples before and after, Fantastico, Joking aside, Maximum listening, Who makes the appearance). She is also a testimonial since 1987 of an advertising spot for Rinazina Nasal Spray.

In the late eighties, he made his first records as a composer and arranger: he is noted with the group Six Mobiles (judged according to the best Italian jazz group by Musica Jazz magazine in 1991) and is the animator of Sandro Cerino Action Quartet (also composed by Claudio Angeleri, Ares Tavolazzi and Federico Monti). Together with Carlo Actis Dato and Stefano Corradi, it forms the Atipico Trio, which has received considerable critical acclaim abroad with Where the reeds give.

In the early nineties, he constantly created acronyms for television programs (Premio Marrazzo, Cinegrafie, Umbriafiction TV). His also the acronym for Ti va la tivv, a program that should have been presented by Massimo Troisi, but which never aired due to the premature death of the Neapolitan actor. After some collaborations, in 1996 he publishes Dove where they bring the fields next to the motorways with a new Action Quartet (together with Mario Rusca, Riccardo Fioravanti and Giampiero Prina) and the album Fasi communicantiwith the young singer Daniela Panetta, in which various pop and rock classics are rearranged in a jazz key. The following year, he published a new work with the Atipico Trio, Gone with the winds, judged among the 100 best records of the year in France and also appreciated in the rest of Europe and Japan.

During the nineties and 2000 he also made soundtracks for cinema and theater. He often collaborates with Giovanni Venosta, with whom he makes music for some films by Silvio Soldini (A soul divided into two, Burning in the wind, Agate and the storm). He wrote the music for Va 'Follow your heart by Cristina Comencini."
