![]() "Four compositions by a young composer originating from Hong Kong, who recently attended the experimental music course at CalArts under Michael Pisaro. The four pieces, all dating from 2012 and 2013, are remarkably varied, ranging from the quiet and subtle beauty of Of Monsters, a duo for piano and accordion, to the harsh power of Cells, a piece for vibrating amplified snare drums. The CDR also includes Another for string quintet and vibraphone, and Bead, Spit for piano, electric guitar and percussion. Though the pieces are very varied sonically, they all work from concepts of contagious movement and mutation as applied to musical processes."-Another Timbre "The sounds that result from beatings and sympathetic resonance are hybrid sounds, assemblages containing two or more sounds that interact with each other. Contagion means 'to touch closely', and the pieces on this album all touch on aspects of my thinking through contagious movement."-Ingrid Lee ![]() The Squid's Ear! ![]() Improvised Music Electro-Acoustic Electro-Acoustic Improv West Coast/Pacific US Jazz |
