"Ken Filiano performs throughout the world, playing and recording with leading artists in jazz, spontaneous improvisation, classical, world/ethnic, and interdisciplinary performance, fusing the rich traditions of the double bass with his own seemingly limitless inventiveness. Ken's solo bass CD, subvenire (NineWinds), received widespread critical praise. For this and numerous other recordings, Ken has been called a creative virtuoso, a master of technique ... a paradigm of that type of artist... who can play anything in any context and make it work, simply because he puts the music first and leaves peripheral considerations behind.

Ken composes for his quartet with Michael Attias, Tony Malaby, and Michael T.A. Thomspon; a collective with Attias and Tomas Ulrich; and for his decades-long collaborations with Steve Adams and Vinny Golia. His prolific output also includes performances and/or recordings with artists including Bonnie Barnett, Rob Blakeslee, Bobby Bradford, Taylor Ho Bynum, Roy Campbell, John Carter, Nels Cline, Alex Cline, Connie Crothers, Mark Dresser, Ted Dunbar, Marty Ehrlich, Giora Feidman, Bob Feldman, Eddie Gale, Georgian Chamber Orchestra, Dennis Gonzalez, Lou Grassi, Phil Haynes, Fred Hess, Jason Hwang, Joseph Jarman, Sheila Jordan (with the Aardvark Orchestra), Raul Juarena, Joe Labarbera, Joelle Leandre, Frank London, Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, Tina Marsh, Warne Marsh, Dom Minasi, Hafez Modirzadeh, Butch Morris, Barre Phillips, Don Preston, Herb Robertson, Bob Rodriguez, Roswell Rudd, ROVA Saxophone Quartet, Ursel Schlicht, Paul Smoker, Chris Sullivan, Peeter Uuskyla, Fay Victor, Biggi Vinkeloe, Kenny Wessel, Andrea Wolper, Pablo Ziegler. With Tomas Ulrich, Elliott Sharp, and Carlos Zingaro, he is a member of T.E.C.K. String Quartet.

Ken has been a guest lecturer, performer, and workshop leader at institutions in the United States and Europe. He earned a MM from Rutgers University and is currently on faculty at Mansfield University."- All About Jazz

"Bruno Pedroso was born in 1969. He began to study music in 1987. First particular title with established musicians on the national scene ( José Salgueiro, Henry de Sousa, Manuel Costa Reis ) and then attended at the Academy of Music Amateurs and Jazz School Hot Clube in Portugal .

At the end of the 90s, he started working as a freelancer, first with the pop band Heróis do Mar, later on with Mler if Dada, where he stayed for two years and recorded the second album.

In the 90th he began fulfilling his compulsory military service in the Army Light Orchestra. In this time, he was studying with jazz drummer Allan Dawson, a renowned educator, teacher during 18 years at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA and also studied with legends of jazz such as Clark Terry, Sir Roland Hanna, Rufus Reid, Bill Pierce.

At the end of the first half of the decade, Bruno Pedroso was a part of the orchestra "Som do Mundo"led by Laurent Filipe. The effect of participation there was recording the CD with Carlos Martins at the concerts, both: nationally and abroad. He had the fortune to record with well-known singers like: Mary John, Elizabeth Campelo and Anabela, with the band Ritual Tejo, record a CD with the trio "Lugar da desordem", saxophonist Paulo Curado and visit Africa to play around at festivals with bassist Carlos Barretto, as well.

Over the past decade, he continued his career as a teacher at the School of Jazz Luis Villas -Boas and in the JBJazz school and also continued his work as a freelancer playing with the various names of jazz, such as André Fernandes, Pedro Moreira, Nelson Cascais, Nuno Ferreira, Bernardo Moreira, Afonso Pais, Sassetti Bernardo, João Paulo Esteves da Silva, Felipe Melo, Marta Hugon, Zé Eduardo, Jacinta. descriptions, reviews, &c.

"One of the most accomplished musicians in the Portuguese jazz and free improvised music scene, Paulo Curado plays with a credo: give disorder a place to develop and grow. Disorder, for him, is a pillar of freedom, freedom to create and freedom to deal with the jazz idiom. More than a philosophical point of view, this is his pragmatic approach to music. The veteran alto saxophonist and flutist sees the trio format as a micro-cosmos of society, a musical combination that enables free-associations that reflect everyday life, exploring the differences in personalities, backgrounds, interests, and conceptions that are inherent in social activity.

The Bird, the Breeze and Mr. Filiano is the result of the association of an unorthodox jazzman (Curado) who also composes for the performing arts and film (with a particular interest for animated cartoons), a bassist with classical education and strong roots in jazz history but also the vocation to go beyond the tradition (Ken Filiano), and a drummer who plays mainstream and avant-garde with equal conviction and skill (Bruno Pedroso). The recording is a wonder of purpose, delivery, drive and energy, with focused attention to detail and nuance. It demonstrates that a power jazz trio can be sensible and lyrical, even if in a twisted way."-Clean Feed
