New York drummer Federico Ughi in a band with long time collaborator David Schnug on sax, Mike Irwin on trumpet, and Jeff Snyder on electronics, more of a creative jazz album than electric, with Leila Adu on vocals and Zach Swanson on bass on 2 tracks each; informed, intelligent and lyrical free improvisation from a tight-knit group of superb players.
"Federico Ughi's new album Heart Talk features long time colleague David Schnug on sax. David has his own record out on 577 Records (David Schnug Trio) and curated a series of three releases for the label that features, in addition to others, rising ECM star Mette Henriette.
This release is the first time Federico has recorded with both Mike Irwin (trumpet) and Jeff Snyder (electronics). Federico has played with Mike for 10 years in different NYC based projects. Federico and Jeff have played together in audio/visual projects related to Princeton University where Jeff teaches and the two travelled to Sweden together to play.
Additionally, the young, acoustic bass player Zach Swanson plays on 2 tracks and the multitalented New Zealand bred singer Leila Adu, who Federico first met 10 years ago in Rome, is featured on 2 tracks. Leila's voice can also be found on Federico's album Songs For Four Cities"-577 Records.
