"Resting in a Fold of the Fog includes two of composer Michael Pisaro's pieces for percussion, guitar and laptop: "Grounded Cloud" and "Hearing Metal (4)". They are performed by two Dedalus Ensemble members Stephane Garin and Didier Aschour, and by Michael Pisaro himself. Pieces titles are inspired by a poem (Fog) written by Mei-mei Berssenbrugge, a chinese poet living in New Mexico (USA).
First piece, "Grounded Cloud", depicts the very gradual gathering of fragments of noise and tone into a more or less continuous fabric, like spores that only understand their collective existence when they get close enough to "hear" each other.
The second piece, "Hearing Metal (4)", is an investigation of the metallic resonance of high register bowed glockenspiel: a sound which is extended by means of a "fog" of other sounds, primarily electric guitar and electronics. It shapes the sound into distinct figures, modeled in some way on Brancusi's Birds in Space."-Michael Pisaro
