"Composer, improviser, instrumentalist (clarinet & saxophone) and sound artist, Philippe Lauzier participates in several projects that tour regularly in Canada and Europe, but also in USA, Latine America and Australia. In his solo and collective work, his ideas incorporate influences of contemporary musical languages as well as sounds from non-Western sources. Creative extended techniques, complex drones from which polyphonies emerge, and a certain compositional rigour are typical of his style. His interest for collaborative intermedia practices also leads him to create sound installation pieces, live performances for contemporary dance, theater music and many sound designs for visual art projects. Following a unique artistic path, Pierre-Yves Martel is constantly renewing his musical identity and practice. Though a instrumentalist, he identifies himself first and foremost as a sound artist whose work oscillates between perpetual research and experimentation. It is in this spirit that he has revisited the viola da gamba, utilizing this traditional instrument in new contexts and thus reengaging it with the contemporary world. Having created an authentic musical language through non-conventional techniques and instrumental preparations, he also works outside of instrumental music altogether, using a variety of objects rife with new sonic possibilities, from contact-mics and speakers to motors, wheels, surfaces and textures."

"Kim Myhr (N) born 1981, is an active voice on the Norwegian creative music scene, with regular performances across Europe, Australia, Asia and America. In 2008, he received the JazZtipend at the Molde International Jazz Festival. The prize included a commission for Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, a large ensemble consisting of thirteen handpicked improvisers from Norway and Australia, featuring Sidsel Endresen, Clare Cooper, Jim Denley and Christian Wallumrød among others. The one-hour piece, which was later released on CD entitled Â"stems and cagesÂ", recieved wide critical acclaim.

Although composition is a valued activity for Myhr, his main focus remains improvisation and long-term collaborations. MURAL, a trio with Jim Denley and Ingar Zach, released Nectars of Emergence on SOFA in january 2010, and will release a concert from the Rothko Chapel done in march 2010, on Rothko Chapel Publications in august 2011. Other projects include Silencers (with Benoit Delbecq, Nils Ostendorf and Toma Gouband), Time Art Ensemble (with Michel Doneda, Matthias Muche and Sven Hahne), murmur (with Klaus Holm, Martin Taxt and Tor Haugerud) and duos with Sebastien Roux, Nils Ostendorf and Jim Denley. Myhr's first solo recording will be out on SOFA at the beginning of 2012.

In addition to making music, Kim Myhr is also the director of the Fri Resonans festival, which has been presenting cutting-edge and innovative music in Trondheim, Norway since 2005. He is also co-running the record label SOFA."

Martin Tétreault is an internationally-renowned sound artist based in Montréal. He is a leading figure in improvisation using turntables, unusual vinyl surfaces and objects. Tétreault's trajectory includes various productions on compact disc and live performances with a range of collaborators: Diane Labrosse, René Lussier, Érik M, Michel F Côté, i8u, Otomo Yoshihide, Xavier Charles, Kid Koala, and many more. He is the composer and director of a turntable quartet Quatuor de tourne-disques founded in 2006. His work has appeared under several labels including Ambiances magnétiques, Erstwhile, Japanimprov, Oral, Victo and Vand'œuvre. Commissioned for music, dance, theatre, poetry and installation, Tétreault has been the recipient of many grants and awards."
