• Show Bio for Edith Steyer "Edith Steyer was born in 1968 in Munich. After studying anthropology, she decided to become a saxophone and clarinet player and finished her degree at the Bruckner-Konservatorium in Linz, Austria. Since then she has been working professionally as a jazz musician and in the field of improvised music. She recieved support and grants for CD productions with various ensembles from the GEDOK, the Berliner Senat (SenBildJugWiss) and as a member of "The Composers Orchestra Berlin" from the Initiative für Neue Musik. She worked at the Staatstheater Cottbus, leading a saxophone quartet. She has been on tour in many places throughout europe and in the US and played with outstanding musicians such as Michael Griener, Jan Roder, Andreas Willers, James Falzone, John Niekrasz, Adam Pultz-Melbye, Kathrin Lemke, Johannes Schleiermacher, Yorgos Dimitriadis, Joel Grip, Tobias Delius, Clayton Thomas, Susanna Hood, Marialuisa Capurso, Jean-Marc Foussat, Luiz Rocha etc." ^ Hide Bio for Edith Steyer • Show Bio for Matthias Muller "Matthias Müller was born 1971 in Zeven, Germany and starting playing trombone in the local trombone choir at the age of 10. From 1994 to 1999 he studied jazz-trombone at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen, where he also made his first steps into improvised music. His CD "Bhavan", which was released in 2004, was produced by Chicago based musician and journalist John Corbett. In the same year he moved to Berlin and has since been regularly playing with internationally recognized improvisers such as John Edwards, Mark Sanders, George Lewis, Johannes Bauer, Jeb Bishop, Tobias Delius, Olaf Rupp, Paul Lovens, Toshimaru Nakamura, Clayton Thomas, Michael Vorfeld, Axel Dörner, and many more. He is a member of the 24-piece improvising ensemble, "Splitter Orchester", and was also a member of the "German-French Jazzensemble" under the direction of Albert Mangelsdorff. In addition, Müller is also active in the field of contemporary music, having worked with the Berlin-based ensembles "Xenon", "Work In Progress", and "Zinc & Copper Works". He also took part in the performance and CD-recording of composer Mark Andre's opera "...22, 13...". Müller has toured Africa, Asia, North America and many countries in Europe, having played on numerous festivals, and released more than 20 CDs of his own projects." ^ Hide Bio for Matthias Muller • Show Bio for Yorgos Dimitriadis "Yorgos Dimitriadis is a Berlin based drummer active in the realms of improvised music and contemporary jazz. After having studied drums at the New Conservatory Thessaloniki, Greece, Dimitriadis moved to Boston, U.S.A. to study with Alan Dawson and Bob Moses. After returning to Europe, in 1994 he was offered a two-year residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris from the Greek Ministry of Culture. For the next twelve years Dimitriadis was an active member of the Paris jazz and improvised music scene, playing locally as well as participating in festivals world wide. Since 2006 he works and lives in Berlin, connecting with the international improvisers scene and participating in different groups and projects: from solo performances to appearances with the 25 piece orchestra BerIO. Dimitriadis is a founding member of among others: GRIX, GLUE and FABRIC trios. He has played with: Sirone, Achim Kaufmann, Tobias Delius, Clayton Thomas, Axel Dörner, Ignaz Schick, Andrea Parkins, Paul Dunmall, Tristan Honsinger, Alexander von Schlippenbach, Marco Eneidi, Alexander Frangenheim, Matthias Bauer, Jan Roder, Edoardo Maraffa, Julie Sassoon, Lothar Ohlmeyer, Harri Sjöström, Nils Ostendorf, Antonio Borghini, BerIO (Berlin Improvisers Orchestra), Marc Turner, Michel Hadjigeorgiou, Nedim Nalbantoglou, Minino Garay, Mano Solo." ^ Hide Bio for Yorgos Dimitriadis
