"Iridescent Strand, a sound work consisting of five parts numbered I, II, III, IV and V. An atypical instrumental ensemble: Thanos Chrysakis, the head of the label, laptop computer and synthesizers, Sue Lynch, tenor sax, flute and clarinet, James Sullivan, electric guitar and Joe Wright, tenor sax + "dynamic feedback system". Such an instrumentation indicates at first sight that artists work at the heart of experimental and / or improvised alternative music. Their method in improvisation, their playing modes, the staging of sounds and their intertwining in the creative moment brings them closer to the AMM current than to the interactivity that stems from the experience of the Spontaneous Music Ensemble, John Russell, Phil Wachsmann etc ... As always for his own productions for Aural Terrains, the composer - improviser Thanos Chrysakis opted for a geometric graphic work on the front of the cover. With a dark green-black dominant color, it is made of curves arranged around vertical alignments, rounded surfaces of a hatched side and traversed by horizontal lines or parallel oblique lines evoking (perhaps) a graphic partition. The interweaving of abrasive and stretched electronic sounds, creases of saxophone air columns, feedback processing, saturated guitar effects, staggered UAVs, their time-lag find some temporal correspondences with the scheduling of these geometric patterns and their perspectives. These are the work of graphic designer Carlos Santos, himself responsible for the graphics of the Creative Sources label. We discover obvious aesthetic links between this Portuguese label and the music of Iridescent. An attentive listening of their sound continuum, of which each part plunges into silence by the virtue of the fading or of a clean cut (in the part V) at the end of each one of them, reveals the deep coherence and the increasing intensity and obsessional with music. An unfolding in the infinite that finds a solution only in the moment and by the collective sound activity and a clever listening. "Thanos Chrysakis' output consists of composition, performance, and installation. He was born in Athens in 1971. After residing in the UK between 1998-2014 he moved in 2015 to Belarus. His formal training encompasses percussion (Dimitris Tzafestas), Sonic Arts (Hugh Davies) at the Lansdown Centre for Electronic Arts and a PhD in composition from Goldsmiths, University of London (EMS/Michael Young) as well as private studies in orchestration with Dmitri Smirnov. However it is the yearning of the creative praxis itself that transmitted the crucial aspect of artistic practice: that something has to be staked, that something must be ventured.

His work was amongst the selected works at the 32nd International Competition de Musique et d'Art Sonore Electroacoustiques de Bourges 2005, in the category œuvre d'art sonore électroacoustique, while received an honorary mention in 2006 at the 7th International Electroacoustic Composition Competition Musica Viva in Lisbon (the jury was constituted by Morton Subotnick (USA), François Bayle (France), and Miguel Azguime (Portugal).

He has held residencies at the Visby Centre for Composers (twice) and at the Artus Contemporary Arts Studio in Budapest. His work has been supported by PRS for Music Foundation and the Swedish Art Council.

"Sue Lynch runs 'The Horse Improvised Music Club' with Adam Bohman and Hutch Demouilpied. www.horseimprovclub.wordpress.com/.Since 2014, The horse has been based at IKLECTIK Art Lab, so this and other projects have been in conjunction with Eduard Solaz. Lynch is currently a member of David Petts-'Remote Viewers',with John Edwards, Mark Sanders, Caroline Kraabel , Adrian Northover and David Petts. She also performs with Adam Bohman, Eddie Prevost,Hutch Demouilpied,Richard Sanderson,Steve Noble and Sharon Gal. Sue Lynch is organiser and arranger for Hogcallin' a Mingus tribute ensemble, performing at the London 2016 Jazz Festival.

In 2015 she performed with Maria Vatentina's opera 'Mannequin'. She has recently performed as part of Tarek Atoui's 'Reverse Collection' at The Tate Modern, with Pat Thomas,Mark Harwood, Angharad Davies + Luke Younger. "Using a combination of feedback, conventional guitar techniques and instrumental preparations, London-based musician James O' Sullivan exploits the full sonic potential of electric guitar and amplifier, relating them meaningfully to the immediate physical environment.

His interest in improvisation, recording and performance has led him to record and perform across the UK and internationally, both solo and with numerous improvised music groups. More longstanding arrangements include Found Drowned, a trio with Pete Marsh and Paul May, and his collaboration with Thanos Chrysakis on several releases on the Aural Terrains imprint.

His debut solo album, 'feed back couple', was released in 2011. His second solo album, IL Y A, is out now on the Linear Obsessional imprint."

"Joe Wright began playing the saxophone in his early teens, and was soon playing across Scotland in various groups including the Tommy Smith Youth Jazz Orchestra, and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland. In 2007 he was awarded an entrance scholarship to study jazz saxophone at the Royal Academy of Music, graduating in 2011 with a First Class Honours Degree. His PhD research aims to create instruments with and for young people on the autistic spectrum that encourage a curiosity about sound, informed by his own experimental music practice.Music Career

Since graduating, Wright has recorded, performed and toured extensively across the UK in a variety jazz, experimental and improvising groups. He has also collaborated on installations, including the Dreamland exhibition at the Turner Contemporary in 2014. More recently his work has focused on exploratory improvisation, often using electronic systems to change the way in which he engages with the saxophone or saxophone-like instruments. Alongside this practice, he has also worked around the UK in performances for neurodiverse audiences. This has included tours with the internationally acclaimed theatre company Oily Cart, work as a sound designer, performer and musical director for sound/movement company aboutNOWish, and as a collaborator in neurodiverse theatre with Winston Churchill Fellow, Ellie Griffiths."
