Referencing geothermal physics in the titles of their improvisations, these three Spanish improvisers create a riveting and radical set of experimental works, with Irene Aranda working inside and out of the piano, Johannes Nastejo extending and adapting his double bass, and percussionist Nuria Andorra using an arsenal of metallic and percussive objects.

"Hearing the music of Irene Aranda, Johannes Nästesjö and Nuriá Andorrà is a visceral experience. It is not a music of surfaces, of polishing, taming and ordering. Inner Core channels seismic dynamics that resonate and refract through the subterranean strata of rock and mantle.
The six improvisations in this collection take their titles from principles of geothermal physics, drawing parallels between improvisation and the molecular and sub-molecular where matter and energy are entwined.
Assemblages of metallic sound emanate from Andorrà's arsenal of percussive objects, Nästesjö extended double bass, and Arranda's virtuosic explorations at the keyboard and inside the piano. Their ideas collide, repel and coalesce like rogue particles, balancing explosive intensity with an equilibrium that emerges from the push and pull of contemporary forces. Inner Core captures a highly evolved trio concept that erases the borders between avant-jazz and experimental improvisation"-Joseph O'Connor
