Descriptions, Reviews, &c.

"Music with Birds is an experiment in inter-species communication between the avian artist Kakaduu and the three instrumentalists Hui-Chun Lin (cello), Elo Masing (violin), Christoph Schwantke (8-string guitar).

It is released as a double album recorded during a private performance of two duets, which were developed from the practice of the three instrumentalists performing for Kakaduu over a period of two years.

The performance was made with the full participation of Kakaduu and took place in their Berlin Psiu-Psiu studio in early 2021.

During the release at Ho ek Contemporary, the three musicians will play two duos to and with the native birds around the gallery.

Kakaduu has one of the most unique contemporary practices of environmental art in Europe, choosing to use mostly recycled material in creating artworks. They favour figurative wood sculpture, and often paint on a wide variety of materials.

Favourite media include wood, wood veneer, cardboard, and coconut shell; for painting they use recycled food.

Kakaduu has also dabbled their beak in music production, becoming the producers of free improvisation trio WIG's album Music for Birds in 2017/18."-Art Rabbit
