The Creative Sources core string improviser of violist Ernesto Rodrigues, cellist Guilherme Rodrigues, cellist Miguel Mira, and double bassist Alvaro Rosso, with frequent collaborator percussionist Vasco Trilla, are joined by German violinist Harald Kimmig (Trio Kimmig) for a dynamic album that fluctuates from acoustic lowercase to rapid pointillistic improv. "Zweig" is the German word for "twig" or "branch", an apt description of the music, as though the improvisers were gliding lightly down a branch and caught in the details of a myriad of leaves, only to turn to another branch. Two extended improvisations are presented, with masterful playing and impressive constraint and control, making a fascinating album for the attentive listener.
