The second album from this Norwegian electric improvising power trio, using dark rhythmic grooves over which guitar, electric piano, amplified objects, no-input mixing board, and pianet emerge, creating hypnotic states that lead to exultant moments through sinuous melody, building and releasing intensity while maintaining a consistent gauzy undertone.

"Tandaapushi is an electric trio: Keys and a steady rhythm section made of electric bass and drums. While still playing melodies and grooves, they developed an obsession for getting any musical idea emptied by mean of repetitition. They play long and relentless music made of dark tones, industrial atmosphere, but still in search of a small light at the other side of the tunnel: Sisyphus looking for his redemption. Tandaapushi is primitive, sometimes massive, but not without a clear idea and a bunch of musical thoughts. It is also unclassifiable, trance inducing, heavy and on the edge. In other words, Tandaapushi creates "super- and sub-sonic textures for introspective imagery and meditative journeying" (Boston Hassle). On Borromean Rings, their second album, Tandaapushi further develops their repetition based improvisation resulting in more finely crafted pulsating din. But there's also something new, something more somber and austere. A different energy has appeared, adding a darkened misty atmosphere to several pieces."-JVTLandt
"The core tracks of the album were recorded during a session in Brussels with Dupleix on the pianet, Smet on guitar with assorted applied effects, and Evrard on drums. In Part 1 (T2), a steady, hypnotic guitar and drum groove rumble beneath rhythmic jabs on the electric keys. In Part 2 (T4) the drum/guitar foundation, more driving than the first and building in intensity, while mysterious tones spiral. For the Finale (T6), a heavier guitar sound anchors wild excursions on the keys. After the session, the guys shared a plate of frites. Between the main tracks are three improvisations- muted beats percolating from a drum machine and question mark strings (T1), creeping repetitive guitar and deep distorted bass (T3) and looping washes of feedback with soft guitar melodies (T5). It brought to my mind early jazz fusion keyboard experiments, and the grind of the Drid Machine with the angular edges filed away, and I enjoyed it the whole way through."-Tandaapushi, KFJC
"In mathematics, the Borromean rings consist of three topological circles which are linked and form a Brunnian link (i.e., removing any ring results in two unlinked rings). In other words, no two of the three rings are linked with each other as a Hopf link, but nonetheless all three are linked."-Wikipedia
