Recorded live at Ciagoty I Tesknoty, in Lodz, Poland, on July 5th, 2016, by Kamil Bobrukiewicz.
"Two great musicians. Two Musical Words. First time on CD. Full Circle - new live CD from legendary drummer Hamid Drake and one of the most important American improviser Ned Rothengerg. On July 5th last year at the Lodz Tubes and Longships club, the only concert in Poland, one of the most important improvisers of New York's stage scene was Ned Rothenberg and legendary drummer Hamid Drake. We were at this concert. He was wonderful. Between the musicians and the audience, and even the sky gave it a visible sign. Just after the end of the first song, we heard a loud thunderbolt, as if up there on the top of the duo gained a similar acceptance on Earth. We recorded this concert and it turned out, soon after its completion, that we all want it not to be lost in the nooks of computer memory but to leave a trace behind it. Today this trail we would like to show you in full."-Foundation Listen

Artist Biographies
• Show Bio for Ned Rothenberg "Composer/Performer Ned Rothenberg has been internationally acclaimed for both his solo and ensemble music, presented for the past 33 years on 5 continents. He performs primarily on alto saxophone, clarinet, bass clarinet, and the shakuhachi - an endblown Japanese bamboo flute. His solo work utilizes an expanded palette of sonic language, creating a kind of personal idiom all its own. In an ensemble setting, he leads the trio Sync, with Jerome Harris, guitars and Samir Chatterjee, tabla, works with the Mivos string quartet playing his Quintet for Clarinet and Strings and collaborates around the world with fellow improvisors. Recent recordings include this Quintet, The World of Odd Harmonics, Ryu Nashi (new music for shakuhachi), and Inner Diaspora, all on John Zorn's Tzadik label, as well as Live at Roulette with Evan Parker, and The Fell Clutch, on Rothenberg's Animul label." ^ Hide Bio for Ned Rothenberg • Show Bio for Hamid Drake "Hamid Drake (born August 3, 1955) is an American jazz drummer and percussionist. He lives in Chicago, IL but spends a great deal of time touring worldwide. By the close of the 1990s, Hamid Drake was widely regarded as one of the best percussionists in jazz and avant improvised music. Incorporating Afro-Cuban, Indian, and African percussion instruments and influence, in addition to using the standard trap set, Drake has collaborated extensively with top free-jazz improvisers. Drake also has performed world music; by the late 70s, he was a member of Foday Musa Suso's Mandingo Griot Society and has played reggae throughout his career. Drake has worked with trumpeter Don Cherry, pianist Herbie Hancock, saxophonists Pharoah Sanders, Fred Anderson, Archie Shepp and David Murray and bassists Reggie Workman and William Parker (in a large number of lineups) He studied drums extensively, including eastern and Caribbean styles. He frequently plays without sticks; using his hands to develop subtle commanding undertones. His tabla playing is notable for his subtlety and flair. Drake's questing nature and his interest in Caribbean percussion led to a deep involvement with reggae." ^ Hide Bio for Hamid Drake
