Descriptions, Reviews, &c.

"The working cell called Angles has a new opus, this time recorded in studio and released in two supports, CD and LP. After Every Woman is a Tree and Epileptical West - Live in Coimbra (Angles 6), and after By Way of Deception (Angles 8), here is the so much awaited first document of the last version of this ensemble lead by Martin Küchen, now named Angles 9.

Meaning that another change happened: pianist Alexander Zethson, saxophonist Eirik Hegdal and cornetist Goran Kaifes are still in action with the original members of the band, namely Mats Aleklint, Mattias Ståhl, Johan Berthling, Andreas Werliin and, of course, Küchen, but trumpeter Magnus Broo is back. That's necessarily good news, reinforcing the powerful brass front of this project already referred as the Scandinavian equivalent of Charlie Haden's Liberation Orchestra.

Likewise, this is creative jazz with political message, going around the appropriate notion of "change". In his liner-notes, saxophone juggler (and a composer with refined dramatic sense) Martin Küchen asks himself if a change is implicitly good. Believing in what we hear in Injuries, there's only one answer: yes it is!"-Clean Feed
