French bassist Joelle Leandre and US/German vocalist Lauren Newton recorded these duos live at Club Gromka in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2010. Through eight improvisations the two explore a diverse set of interactions on string and voice, with unusual and captivating approaches to each instrument that work effectively together. Since the 90s the two have been part of a quintet with Fritz Hauser, Urs Leimgruber, and Heiri KŠnzig, which fuels their confident and imaginative use of their individual languages; this is a conversation drawn out from that group, and their comfortable enthusiasm with each other shows.
