"Jai Johanny Johanson (born July 8, 1944), frequently known by the stage name Jaimoe, is an American drummer and percussionist. He is best known as one of the founding members of The Allman Brothers Band.

Johanson came up in the R&B world and began drumming at an early age, often accompanied by friend Lamar Williams on bass. Johanson backed soul singers, including a membership in Otis Redding's touring band in 1966, and afterward touring with the acclaimed soul duo, Sam & Dave. After joining up with Duane Allman in February 1969, he quickly became the first recruit into Allman's new group, soon joined by bassist Berry Oakley, fellow drummer Butch Trucks, guitarist Dickey Betts and lastly Allman's younger brother, singer, organist and pianist Gregg Allman. The group, quickly named after the brothers Allman, began recording demos that April in Macon, Georgia, which became the group's home base. [...]"

"Tiziano Tononi (born November 18, 1956, Milan) is an Italian percussionist and composer.

Tononi taught himself to play drums in a pop/rock idiom as a youth, then turned to playing jazz and classical percussion in his late teens, studying with Andrew Cyrille and Bob Moses. Playing locally in Milan in the early 1980s, he joined the Democratic Orchestra Milano and co-founded the Nexus ensemble with Daniele Cavallanti, as well as the group Moon on the Water toward the middle of the decade. Through the 1980s he played in a variety of idioms with musicians such as Pierre Favre, Tiziana Ghiglioni, Maggie Nicols, Barre Phillips, Dewey Redman, Giancarlo Schiaffini, and Gianluigi Trovesi.

In the 1990s Tononi played with the Jazz Chromatic Ensemble and the Italian Instabile Orchestra, as well as in a trio with Beppe Caruso. His Multiphonics Tuba Trio, with Renato Geremia and Michel Godard, was founded in 1997; he also did composition and arrangement work, including the soundtrack to Ketchup and tributes to Don Cherry and Roland Kirk."

descriptions, reviews, &c.

"The J.and F. Band, already hailed by some as "the blues version of the Sun Ra Arkestra", returns with the third incredible chapter of its musical history, "Me and The Devil" and thus closes an ideal trilogy where it has increasingly expanded its creative journey through many genres and styles, the result of a passion and musical vision now without limits.... Atmospherical intros? Super funky grooves? Extended improvisations mixed up with great vocal parts? Yeah! You're in the right place, you're gonna find everything you need right here, in J and F Band's third chapter!

"Me And The Devil" is the musical melting pot in which Funk meets Blues, where the spirit of John Gilmore from the Sun Ra Arkestra encounters the ghost of Gil Scott-Heron... with the incredibile guitars of David Grissom (Joe Ely, John Mellencamp and many others), Bobby Lee Rodgers (Codetalkers with Colonel Bruce Hampton) and Scott Sharrard (Gregg Allman Band, Little Feat); the super high-energy rhythm section of Jaimoe (legendary Allman Bros drummer), Joe Fonda (jazz bass giant) and Tiziano Tononi (explosive and revered drummer); the crazy keyboards of Pee Wee Durante (funky keys master); the tight violin /tenor sax duo section of Emanuele Parrini (the best jazz violin player on the scene. period.) and Jon Irabagon (fantastic and versatile player from NY). It's not for everybody: for Strong Hearts only! And - As Always - Remember To... Play It Very Loud!"-Long Song Records
