"Anthony Pateras is a composer and pianist. His works have been performed by The BBC Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Toronto Symphony, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Brett Dean, Jessica Aszodi as well as a large body of work for percussion by Synergy, Speak Percussion, Slagwerkgroep Den Haag, Vanessa Tomlinson, Diego Espinosa and the percussionists of the Basel Symphony.

Pateras is the producer/songwriter for tetema, a quartet with vocalist Mike Patton and frequent collaborators Will Guthrie (drums) and Erkki Veltheim (violin). Anthony has also performed concerts with Stephen O'Malley, Han Bennink, Paul Lovens, The Necks, eRikM, Valerio Tricoli, Anthony Burr, and has a working trio with Veltheim and trumpet virtuoso Scott Tinkler entitled North of North.

He has been commissioned by Radio France, SWR2 Baden-Baden, Melbourne Symphony, Kitchen Orchestra Stavanger, Muzzix Lille, Richard Tognetti, Lampo Chicago, Jérôme Noetinger, the National Gallery of Lithuania and Ensemble Hiatus through the French Ministry of Culture.

Pateras was the composer-in-residence at the Australian National Academy of Music in 2010, was nominated twice for the UNESCO Rostrum of Composers (2004, 2011) and is a recipient of the 2014 Myer Creative Fellowship.

Anthony has released over 30 albums on Tzadik, Editions Mego, Ipecac and on his own Immediata label. He holds a PhD in composition from Monash University, which explores intersections between composition, improvisation and electro-acoustic music."

"Lucio Capece: Argentinian musician based in Europe since 2002, specifically in Berlin since 2004.

Capece followed education as a classical guitarist and jazz saxophonist finishing studies at the Ginastera Conservatory in Morón, Buenos Aires (9 years career), and took self supported private lessons in Bass Clarinet (Martin Moore) , Saxophone and Jazz improvisation (Carlos Lastra, Gustavo Alsberg, Quique Sinesi) in Buenos Aires, Lyon (France, with Louis Sclavis), New York (meetings with Marilyn Crispell, Gerry Hemingway, Tim Berne, Hank Roberts, Jim Black) and Chicago. (Lessons and concerts with Gene Coleman)

In Argentina he was part as a performer and composer of the ensemble Avion Negro and the trio Casual, working in the area of Contemporary jazz.

Since the late 90´s he offered music in the context of Electro Acoustic Improvisation, focused in quietness, attentive listening and granular material.

Since 2011 he dedicates to offer works focused in the Perception experience, that he performs mainly in solo and in the context of occasional collaborations based in the same interest. He composes his own pieces that may include improvisation and different ways of writing.

He uses tools like Flying Speakers hanging from Helium Balloons, Speakers as Pendulums, Analog synthesiser, Sine Waves and Noise Generators, Drum Machines, Ultra- Violet Lights, Sensors as much as the instruments that he has played for 25 years: Bass Clarinet and Soprano Saxophone, adding recently a 100 years old Slide Saxophone.

He has also written compositions for Ensembles working the same aspects in the context of traditional Instrumentations.

He has performed his own sound interventions in spaces like The Cathedral of Bern (Zoom In Festival, 2012) The Mambo Museum in Bologna (Live Arts week 2012),the German Pavilion built by Mies Van der Rohe in Barcelona, the Halle des Expositions built by Alexandre Gustave Eiffel in Evreux, France ( L ´Atelier series) the Bauhaus Archive in Berlin, and the Colón Theatre in Buenos Aires where he offered an interactive installation for children.

Beyond instrumentation and tools, the main intention is to focus in the physical-social-spatial human experience.

As a performer he has worked with Pauline Oliveros, Peter Ablinger, Antoine Beuger, Michael Pisaro, Alex Arteaga, Christian Wolff, Phill Niblock as part of the Ensembles Q-O2 from Belgium, and Konzert Minimal from Berlin, together with the musicians Johnny Chang, Koen Nutters and Hannes Lingens.

He organises since 5 years the one day Festival "Perceptive Turns" in Berlin."

Krzysztof Guńka is a Polish saxophonist, known for the group Spółdzielnia Muzyczna Contemporary Ensemble.

"Riccardo La Foresta is a percussionist and sound artist from Modena (Italy) whose research of the last years wants to question the role of the drum as a percussive instrument. Resonances and vibrations generated treating the drum as an aerophone, create acoustic drones, ancestral melodies and complex beats that drastically distance the instrument from traditional drumming. The ongoing process of his research is focused on the development of a system called Drummophone.

In the past years Riccardo's been intensely touring Europe and working in between the fields of experimental music, free jazz and sound art, collaborating with musicians such as Fis, Anthony Pateras, Chris Corsano, Axel Dörner, Lê Quan Ninh, John Butcher, Michel Doneda, Massimo Pupillo, Toma Gouband, Stefano Pilia, Ingar Zach, Mike Majkowski and Lucio Capece among others.

"Mike Majkowski is a double bassist / composer born in Sydney, Australia. Currently based in Berlin. Active in the fields of improvised, composed and exploratory music. Performs as a soloist + with a number of collaborative projects (some of which are featured in this site) mike is currently exploring the spectral qualities of double bass resonance, examining deliberate frequencies and circumstantial resonance. His music also explores the relationship between physicality and sonority, with the aim of creating a sense of stillness."

"Deborah Walker is a new music performer and improviser based in Paris. She was born in Reggio Emilia, Italy, in 1981 and studied cello in her hometown. After graduating she moved to Paris to continue her cello studies with Agnès Vesterman and Anssi Karttunen. Since 2007 she is a member of Dedalus, a variable ensemble which plays experimental and contemporary music, who has collaborations, among others, with Tom Johnson, Pascale Criton, Christian Wolff, Antoine Beuger and Jurg Frey.

Deborah Walker has collaborated with artists like Joëlle Leandre, Markus Stockhausen, Garrett List and Teri Weikel. She's currently working with composers Pascale Criton and Eliane Radigue in pieces for solo cello or small ensembles. She has played in many festivals such as I Suoni delle Dolomiti, Italia Wave, ZKN in Karlsruhe, Festival d'Avignon, Festival Nomad in M'Hamid (Morocco), Ze Couch (New York) and tours regularly around Europe. She also takes part in theater, dance and circus performances, both as composer and performer. Deborah is doing a Master in Sound and Music Composition at the University of Paris 8 (St. Denis). Her recordings include works by Tom Johnson played by the Dedalus Ensemble (New World), a live recording of the intuitive music quintet Flowers of Now(21st Records) as well as Frammenti di Scrittura Prematura (Imprint Records) and Imagine Book (ILDE)."

"Aviva Endean is an artist dedicated to fostering a deep engagement with (and care for) sound and music, with the hope that attentive listening can connect people with each other and their environment. She is active as a clarinetist, composer, improviser, curator, sound artist, performance-maker and collaborator. Aviva regularly works across a range of contexts including experimental and improvised music, new chamber music, creating theatre works which are designed to be listened to, and working on cross-disciplinary collaborations. Her work seeks to work beyond the boundaries of her art form, to reimagine the possibilities of a practice with sound.

Her debut solo release cinder : ember : ashes featuring improvisations and original compositions was released on Norwegian label SOFA in 2018 to critical acclaim, with reviews speaking to Aviva's innovation and virtuosity, and describing the work as 'captivating, sophisticated, stunning, miraculous' & 'trance-inducing'.

As a composer and performance maker, Aviva often explores expanding the audience experience of sound by creating unusual, spatially engaged, and participatory contexts for listening. Aviva is also active as a collaborator on interdisciplinary projects. She recently created an electro-acoustic sound design for Chunky Move's large scale immersive performance work Token Armies for the Melbourne International festival 2019. Her work was also featured in films Assembly by Angelica Mesiti for the Australian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2019, and The Empyrean by Amiel-Courtin Wilson. Aviva was the inaugural recipient of the Australian Art Orchestra's 'Pathfinder' Music Leadership program, which offered her a one-year Associate Artist position with the company. "Judith Hamann is an Australian-born cellist currently based between Melbourne and San Diego. Her performance practice stretches across various genres, encompassing elements of improvised, art, experimental, and popular music. Judith has studied contemporary repertoire with many cellists, including Charles Curtis and Séverine Ballon. She is developing a strong practice in improvisation through collaborative projects and performances, both in Australia and internationally, including Hammers Lake (with Carolyn Connors) and Golinski/Hamann/Dunscombe trio. She has worked with artists and ensembles, including Oren Ambarchi, ELISION Ensemble, Ellen Fullman, Graham Lambkin, Jon Rose, Not Yet It's Difficult, Ilan Volkov, and La Monte Young and Marian Zazeela. Judith is a founding member of Golden Fur and one-half of the immersive duo project Cello II (with Anthea Caddy).

She has performed widely with festivals including Tectonics (Glasgow, Adelaide), UnSound (NYC), Adelaide Festival of Arts, Melbourne International Arts Festival, the Now Now (Sydney), Dark Mona (Hobart), Extremities: Japanese Australian Festival (Tokyo), Tokyo Experimental Festival, SiDance Festival (Seoul), Ausland Summer Festival (Berlin), and Liquid Architecture (Australia).

"Scott McConnachie (b. 1984) is an Australian Saxophonist, and Improviser. He has performed solo, with Scott Tinkler, Simon Barker, Carl Dewhurst, Ken Edie, Ren Walters, Paul Grabowsky, Barney McCall, Jenny Barnes and many other outstanding musicians. In 2015 Scott completed an Honours degree investigating the use of Xenakian materials in improvised performance before going onto a Masters investigating connections between martial arts and music practice. In 2017 Scott will record two albums - Solo Saxophone and Trio with Simon Barker and Carl Dewhust."

"Maria Moles is a drummer/educator based in Melbourne. After completing a Bachelor of Music Performance at Victorian College of the Arts in 2013, she currently performs extensively around Melbourne both solo and with various ensembles, including bands/artists such as Jaala, Ajak Kwai, Jonnine Standish (HTRK), On Diamond, and Doroth.

Maria has been the drummer for some of Melbourne's most renowned artists, such as Mildlife, Jess Ribeiro, Francis Plagne, and Horatio Luna. As an improviser, she has collaborated with The Australian Art Orchestra, Anthony Pateras, Krakatau, The Sicilian Improvisers Orchestra, Ernie Althoff, Carolyn Connors, Jim Denley, Jenny Barnes, Scott Tinkler, Adam Halliwell, Lucas Abela, Rohan Drape, Kota Yamauchi (JPN), Bonnie Stewart, Marcus Mckenzie, Robbie Aveneim, and the Hobart Improvisers Collective. She has also worked as a session drummer for Sui Zhen, Gena Rose Bruce, Jess Cornelius, Darren Hanlen, Chitra, Max Sharam, Ryan Downey, Grace Turner, Low Talk, and The General Assembly.

Maria's solo project explores the use of layering sounds/rhythms played on either drum kit/percussion which are then electronically manipulated through the use of filters and pitch modulators. Her self-titled EP was released in 2016 through Tonelist, and was listed on Avant Music News under Best Albums of the Year 2016. In her short time performing solo, Maria has supported Clever Austin (Hiatus Kaiyote) and Chris Corsano (Bjork, Thurston Moore, Evan Parker), and has performed an improvised score to Ben Christensen's 1922 silent film at Dark Mofo Festival 2017."

"Erkki Veltheim (b. 1976 Finland) is an Australian composer, improviser, performer and interdisciplinary artist.

Erkki has been commissioned by the Adelaide Festival, Vivid Festival, Australian Art Orchestra and Soundstream Collective, and his pieces have been performed by groups such as the London Sinfonietta, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Recent projects include Gawanjalkmi (Song for the fallen) for voices and large ensemble (2015), in collaboration with Gurrumul and Jonno Yunupingu, commissioned by Skinnyfish and Gone West, Belgium; audiovisual performance work Another Other (2014/2016), with co-creators Anthony Pateras, Natasha Anderson and Sabina Maselli, commissioned by Chamber Made Opera; and audiovisual installation Fusion of Tongues (2015), commissioned by Punctum and La Maison Folie, Belgium, for 'Mons 2015 - European Capital of Culture' program.

Erkki has performed with the Australian Art Orchestra, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Elision and Ensemble Modern, and has featured as a soloist with the London Sinfonietta, Australian Opera and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. He has long-standing collaborations with indigenous musician Gurrumul, improvising trumpet virtuoso Scott Tinkler, and composer-pianist Anthony Pateras.
