Drummer & percussionist Lucas Nggli has rebuilt his Big Zoom band first by filling out the rhythm section with bassist Barry Guy, and adding American flutist Anne La Berge. They join the regulars of in the band: electric guitarist Philipp Schaufelberger and trombonist Nils Wogram. "I wanted to have distinct characters", Niggli say in justifying his choices. After his more structured work with the Arte Quartett, Niggli pushed back to freedom, embracing concepts that give more room for improvisation and tonality without disposing of the eloquence and refinement in the virtuoso playing that Schaufelberger and Wogram are so experienced in. An amazing and versatible album is the result as Niggli pushes himself and his band onto further adventure.
