"Collective telepathy at high speed...

Maksymenko, founder and brain behind the extraordinary Swedish post-Beefheartian group Kraljursastalten - and world-class ice-hockey player - here collects his extraordinary songbook including much of the two celebrated '70s releases by Kraljursastalten (the Reptile Institution: Michael plus the telepathic twins Stefan and Thomas Agaton), with later recordings from his solo record plus released and unreleased pieces with Henry Kaiser, John 'Drumbo' French, Sten Standell, Andy West and others. Wild lurching swing complexity, ridiculous tempi, great rhythms, sudden mood changes, fine compositions and music that is always to the point. No fat, just coffee and cigarettes.

1956: born in a suburb of Stockholm, Sweden into a family of Ukrainian refugees from WW2. Extreme poverty. Until 1971 he was mainly involved either in violent street-fighting or ice-hockey. No family musical background. Then, 14 years old, he had an accident that almost lost him a foot, ending a very promising ice-hockey career. He had to find another platform to express the dynamics of Russian-style ice-hockey. He chose music. He found the twins - Thomas & Stefan Agaton - playing bass and guitar - who had the technical capacity and the extremely fast communication required to perform his music.

1977: KRÄLDJURSANSTALTEN was ready to face off. They recorded two 12" records: a Maxi: Nu är det allvar and an LP: Voodooboogie and toured, often under the "Rock In Opposition" umbrella until, In late 1981 they split, the night before recording their second album, which Maksymenko then recorded himself sometime later as Nu kan det sagas (Now it can be told). Then there was Crazy Backwards Alphabet, a collaboration with Henry Kaiser (1996-1991) also featuring ex Dixie Dregs bassist Andy West and John 'Drumbo' French from Captain Beefheart's Magic Band.

1991 to 2007: Maksymenko abandoned music and worked as a TV-producer in Sweden, mainly making programmes about Culture and The Pleasures of Life. For the last nine years he has also been the soccer coach for a female football team. Today: he's getting back on stage again with the old Kräldjursanstalten material with Ralf Nygård (legendary leader of Boojwah Kids), Mathias Danielsson and Jimmy Ågren (from Jimmy Ågren Band and Mats Morgan Band) as The Reference Group. Face off: summer of 2008."-Recommended Records
