"On May 15th, 2023, composer Takahiro Kuroda (born in 1989) presented the concert "Square of Thoughts Vol. 2: Eva-Maria Houben and Horn + x" in the performance space of Ftarri, Tokyo. Four of Houben's compositions, mainly works for horn, were performed by horn player Kei Kondo (born in 1989) and Kuroda, who played the upright piano. This CD includes three works from the live recording of that concert: "his master's voice" and "aus den fliegenden blattern eines fahrenden waldhornisten," performed as solos by Kondo; and "lose verbunden," performed as a solo by Kuroda."-Ftarri

In recent years, his primary concern has been to confront the audience and appreciator with some questions through his works. He composes and creates works that approaches the state and the transformation of time and space in compositions upon the consideration concerning the relationship between sound and silence. These are his personal interests, but he hopes that the works that are created from such interests will be a mirror of the audience and appreciator's inner self. He won the 29th JSCM (Japan Society for Contemporary Music) Award for Composers (2012) and the 37th IRINO PRIZE for Chamber-Orchestral Composition (2016). In 2018, he was commissioned by Music From Japan to compose a piece and invited to Music From Japan Festival 2019 in New York as one of the Japanese composers influenced by John Cage. He is member of the artist collective, Crossings. He studied composition with Toma Imoto, Isao Matsushita, Norio Fukushi, Jo Kondo, Jummei Suzuki and Klaus Lang." ^ Hide Bio for Takahiro Kuroda
